Hello sweet friends! Welcome to a historical Fashion Friday. Yesterday began the four-day Costume College event. While it is usually held in California this year everything is online. This is one of the reasons why I went Jumping Into 18th Century Fashion. Jumping Into 18th Century Fashion In two previous posts, Budget Costuming Plucking The Turkey and 18th Century Slow Stitching I shared how I was participating in the Burnley and Trowbridge Sew-Along series. Budget Costuming Plucking The Turkey
Hello, sweet friends, my fingers have really been flying this week. I have sewn two 18th century petticoats, a bedgown (a casual wrapped jacket), and more in an effort to create Budget Costuming Plucking The Turkey. In last week's post, Slow Stitching I shared that I am trying to recreate the artwork, Plucking The Turkey, painted by Henry Walton in 1776. All the elements need to be finished by next Thursday. Budget Costuming Plucking The Turkey Still on my "Must Make" list is an ... View the Post
18th Century Slow Stitching
Hello, my friends! I have been staying at home and working on some 18th Century Slow Stitching. My goal is to create an entire 18th-century outfit using historically accurate sewing techniques. Simplicity 2813 A few years ago I found this amazing 1930's dress pattern, Simplicity 2813, in a little box in a field at Round Top Antiques Week. I have been hesitant to make it as the patterns of this era are completely ... View the Post

A Twirly Blue Strawberry Dress
Hello sweet friends! Happy Friday. I hope you are all well. These photos show hair that desperately needs a cut. A sleeve that hits at the fullest part of my arm AND my slip is showing. But imperfection can still be lovely. I've been wanting to incorporate more housedresses into my summer wardrobe. They are so cool and easy! So here is A Twirly Blue Strawberry Dress. Butterick 6522 I used a vintage-inspired reproduction pattern, Butterick 6522 that I found at an estate sale. It went ... View the Post
