The Strawberry Dress

Hello sweet friends! Welcome to a very fun edition of Fashion Friday! Right now in the fashion world, The Strawberry Dress is all the rage! The style is so cute but a bit young for me so I made a more age-appropriate version.

The Strawberry Dress

The Strawberry Dress

In case you haven’t heard of The Strawberry Dress by Lirika Matoshi it features puffy sleeves and a plunging neckline. What made the IT dress of 2020 is the pastel pink tulle overlay embellished with sequined strawberries.

Gorgeous right? It would be darling on my daughter. There is also the small fact that it has a price tag of $490. While that is somewhat reasonable by designer dress standards that is still way out of my price range.

When I spied some pretty strawberry fabric at Hobby Lobby I was inspired. Sadly, there was only 2 yards left on the bolt. That wasn’t much to work with.

But I remembered a pattern for a sweet little smock that I wanted to make.

This smock went together beautifully. It would be the perfect project for a beginner.

The Strawberry Dress

Along the neckline and on the sleeve I used some vintage organdy trim as a nod to the original frothy confection.

It’s fun to wear over a t-shirt and jeans.

I’ll see you on Sunday!

That is adorable – I like it better than the dress! It’s too young, in my opinion, for anyone over 10. Great adaptation for real life, and it looks so pretty on you. Have a lovely weekend xoxo

That is so cute and so much more wearable that the original dress! See you tomorrow at the picnic!

Fun! I much prefer your version over the strawberry dress – very few people could wear that successfully!
