Chapter 5 Craft Create Your Own Log Cabin
This post works in conjunction with my YouTube channel.
THE FULL-LENGTH VIDEO CAN BE VIEWED BY CLICKING HERE.
It includes this crafting segment.
You can also view another style of a log cabin project in The Laura Ingalls Wilder Companion.
It is similar to the log cabin I made for our Little House Christmas celebration a few years ago.
Sunbonnets in Chapter 10
This week for our historical fashion segment we look at a costume inspired by the television series.
Back in 2018, I decided to try and recreate a costume worn by the character Carolyn Ingalls in the early years of the show.
It included a blouse, skirt, apron, and sunbonnet.
You’ll have to watch the video to find out if this costume is historically accurate.
The original construction details of this costume were shared in this post.
Chapter 19 A Very Special Cake
This week’s recipe was for a traditional pound cake. I share the recipe in the video and it is also available in The Little House Cookbook.
Happy 19th birthday to my forever Farmer Boy!

Laura, I am enjoying this series very much and look forward to it every week! Your compassionate and admirable stance on the Native American removal in our country highlighted a very sad and regrettable time in our history. It brought tears to my eyes as well, imagining what they had to endure.
Your cake for Ian looks so delicious and makes me want to make it this week!
