A Long-Awaited Dream

This post is truly about a long-awaited dream true. Can you believe that my husband and I are in our mid to late 50s and we have NEVER had new appliances?

They have always been hand-me-downs or what already came in our military housing or apartment rentals.

Happy Anniversary DTA

On March 4th Decor To Adore celebrated its 14th year.

If you look at any of my past kitchen posts you will see a stainless steel refrigerator that I was so truly thankful to have. But I personally didn’t pick it out. It came with our house in Arizona. I have never been a fan of stainless steel appliances. I may have mentioned that here a time or twenty. (smile)

After 25 years together, Mr. Decor and I now have our dream appliances.

This perhaps why I panicked a bit when the cabinet maker forget the rule of Measure Twice, Cut Once. This uh oh image was shared in Week 6.

For the past three years, I have not had a properly working dishwasher. But I refused to settle for anything other than what I had my heart set on. I blame Pinterest.

Kitchen Renovation Week 9 GE Cafe Appliances

When the GE Cafe Series came out four years ago I was so excited. FINALLY, appliances that I loved!

We placed our order last June. Then we waited. And waited. And waited for them to arrive. It was a full eight months from the time we placed our order until the day our appliances were delivered. It was due to the supply chain, etc. But truly it was worth the wait.

Our refrigerator is the Counter Depth French Door in Matte White.

I LOVE the counter depth. There are no dark corners for food to get forgotten in!

If you need more space they do have full-size refrigerators as well as smaller-sized refrigerators in the Cafe line too.

The dishwasher is the 24 in. Fingerprint Resistant Matte White. The first time I turned it on it was SO QUIET that I had to double-check that it was actually running.

The stove is the 30 Inch Slide-In Electric Smart Range with Warming Drawer. Mr. Decor loves all the fancy bells and whistles. It cooks/bakes beautifully.

I do want to mention that when you turn on the stove or oven a fan automatically turns on to keep the computerized components cool. I would compare the noise to a range hood set on low. I’m not a huge fan of the fan, but I do love the stove/oven.

Disclosure: Mr. Decor and I paid for all of the products listed in this post ourselves. Nothing was gifted. I have attached affiliate links for the products to assist in the search if you are looking for something similar.

The full kitchen reveal is coming soon I promise! We are waiting on two cabinets to be finished as well as looking for a delivery of two items that are back-ordered until the end of March. So fingers crossed I can share it all in early April.

I’ll see you Friday!

Laura

I checked the dimensions online — that fridge is enormous! Too big for my space but it is great for yours. I know what you mean about things getting lost. I call them science experiments and I just found a few the other day! It’s beautiful — they all are. I can see why you chose the white — it looks great in your space.

Laura, the appliances are gorgeous. We have stainless steel in our kitchen and I don’t like them – AT ALL. Enjoy your beautiful new kitchen in good health.

They are beautiful. I really look forward to seeing the read things in situ.

We have black appliances which I think look great since I painted the cabinets white, but we need a new fridge and dishwasher but are having trouble finding the fridge…not to mention that we have the same fridge cab problem you did! Hubby says he has a saw….

Matt finish on the appliances…..wow, no hand prints….for some reason, your kitchen has a French look to it, was that what you were going for? Because you have it!
    Beautiful!

Your brand spankin’ new appliances are so chic! Love the contrasting handles! I’m like you in that I don’t care for stainless steel. When we remodeled in 2007, I went with bisque appliances which go really well with our kitchen colors of cream and rusty red.
