Hello sweet friends! Welcome to a special edition of Fashion Friday. I recently went to an event organized by the Art Deco Society of Dallas and held at the Dallas Heritage Village. So rouge your knees and roll your stockings down for the Jazz Age Sunday Social!
Jazz Age Sunday Social
The Jazz Age occurred in the Roaring 20s and 1930s. Following The Great War people were eager to LIVE again. In literature, F. Scott Fitzgerald painted a vivid picture in The Great Gatsby. Silent films, talkies, and cartoons were shown at beautiful cinemas. Art Deco was the dominant design style. Prohibition, which banned the manufacture, transportation, and sale of intoxicating liquors, resulted in the creation of illegal nightclubs known as speakeasies. Musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Bessie Smith brought forth exciting new sounds in music. Young women, known as flappers, bobbed their hair and danced the Charleston.
I attended the event with the Women’s Vintage Society of Dallas (WVSD). The group was founded by Erin Patterson and Jamie Seibert.
The turnout for just our group was phenomenal!

Fashion
For the past few weeks, I have been sharing my journey with Jazz Age fashion as I needed a frock to wear to the event. I began with an early 1920s housedress.
Then moved on to a late 1920s garden (or afternoon) dress.
While I wanted to wear the late 20s dress time was not on my side. The coordinating hat and handbag did not get made. But rest assured the ensemble will eventually be finished and worn.
So green it was as the black cloche picked up the tiny secondary color in the dress.
Isn’t Mr. Decor just the Bee Knees?!!!
Just for fun.
Our dear friends, The Scoma’s, went with us. Mike is a musician and vintage car enthusiast.
Michele is an amazing seamstress. You may remember her Jane Austen ensemble and Pirates of the Caribbean extravaganza. Could she be any cuter in the cloche she made?

The fashions were absolutely fabulous. So buckle up buttercup and enjoy!
Darling Ginger has been collecting vintage and antique clothing for years. She is also a tremendous seamstress.
I think fabulous runs in the family.
I may have finally met the photographer who can take the author photo for my upcoming book jacket. Michelle Grace does beautiful work!
Oh, my HEART!!!
Fellow D/FW Costuber, Samantha Snow attended with her dashing husband Derick. She’ll be sharing the dress she made soon.
Cheri looked absolutely beautiful in her 100-year-old dress. It was an Etsy find.
Mr. and Mrs. Patterson wore authentic 1930s fashion. His uniform dates to 1936.
Ready To Rumble
There was a wonderful collection of antique cars on display.
Mike and Michele are drinking hooch and ready to rumble!
My favorite.
This Week’s Video
I haven’t even begun to talk about the fabulous Matt Tolentino band. But some things you just need to hear.
This week’s video is short and sweet at just under 6 minutes. Enjoy!
I’ll be back on Sunday!

Wholly adorable and enjoyable! The 20s have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. One year my mom made me a flapper costume out of blue crepe paper for Halloween and I wore lots of beads. My wedding gown was 20s in style and I had a bandeau headpiece made to match! I hope you all had as good a time as the video showed!

What fun! All the costumes were great. Love the Patterson’s authentic 1930’s outfits. You and Mr. Decor look snazzy!
