The slow days of summer have arrived. It is the perfect time to dine al fresco. Here is a collection of ideas on how to Create A Sweet Summer Picnic. Many thanks to Maureen of Red Cottage Chronicles for organizing this fun hop!
Create A Sweet Summer Picnic
I am a lover of picnics. Over the years I have created dozens of creations. Living in Texas the best time for picnics is in the spring and fall. Summer is far too hot, humid, with cicadas and wasps trying to drown themselves in your drink.
One of my favorites was Blue Gingham in the Garden.
In a recent post, I shared my Top tips for dining outdoors.
The post, Barefoot In The Park, goes back a few years but is a testament to classic designs’ enduring appeal.
One rare summer dining experience was this Patriotic Picnic.
This Farm To Table Feast served forty people. It was so lovely.
A way to use vintage doilies and Keep Pests at Bay
Georgian Picnics
Do you remember the Boxhill picnic scene in many of the Emma films?
I belong to the D/FW Costumers Guild and every November the group hosts a Georgian picnic.
Of course, I also love a good Edwardian Garden Tea Party.
Fall In Love With Picnics
Autumn seems to be a truly lovely time to dine outside. My family loved this Fall Moments Picnic.
It was just Mr. Decor and I this last Thanksgiving. We celebrated with a jewel-toned picnic.
A collection of favorite vintage things led to Gather Round The Table.
There is something so perfect in paring orange and burgundy in this Fall Garden Picnic.
What is your favorite time to picnic?

You’ve had some great picnics over time! All fun ideas. And I love the photos with you in your beautiful dresses (and hats). So prim and proper. Pinkies up!

What lovely ways to enjoy al fresco dining, Laura. I’m glad you didn’t ask us to vote for a favorite setting — I am torn between many of them. (I do love the rosemary — or was it lavender? — in the napkins. How fragrant!

Thank you for sharing all your pretty picnic memories! Picnics are fun and food always tastes better for some reason. Your pretty spring and summer setting featuring the ginghams are perfect but I also love your rustic displays as well. The vintage dishes and pretty arrangements you have created for the tables are just perfect and I bet the food was enjoyed and all devoured!
We have had a couple this summer so far but nothing as fancy or elaborate by any means. Plastic table cloths and buckets of chicken with paper cups but the fun and happy memories are still good. Maybe I need to put the chicken in a pretty dish next time! 😉 Cheers!
