A Jewel Toned Thanksgiving Celebration

Hello dear friends! Welcome to A Jewel Toned Thanksgiving Celebration. This Season of Thanks hop is hosted by Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home. If you are coming over from my friend Cindy’s site at County Road 407 may I offer a warm “Hello!” Both Amber and Cindy always create such amazing vignettes.

A Jewel Toned Thanksgiving Celebration

With both kids now out of the home, I have begun to plan an empty nest Thanksgiving. But that doesn’t have to mean frozen turkey dinners on tv trays.

Indeed smaller can often be sweeter.

Readers may recognize the fabric used for the napkins and the tablecloth.

Earlier this year I had found a set of 80’s draperies at an estate sale. I first made an 1890s dressing gown.

There’s still quite a bit of fabric left.

Mr. Decor might be quite nervous about seeing lederhosen in his future.

Gracie the doxie is concerned that she might be wearing a dog-sized dirndl.

Perhaps, but let’s talk about tablescapes.

Setting The Scene

We have had glorious weather this past week here in Texas. To me, there is something so charming about dining outdoors. It is a lovely nod to the very first Thanksgiving.

Cabbage Creations

I set out to the grocery store hoping to find a lovely pumpkin to transform into a vase for the centerpiece. Alas, I guess the clock had already struck midnight as there was not a single gourd or squash to be found. Pushing past the poinsettias my eyes fell upon a glorious purple cabbage.

Offering more abundance, lovely pears were tucked into the place settings.

Real-life alert: racing against an incoming thunderstorm I opted to just pink the edges of the napkins instead of sewing up a hem.

No sew napkins

Acorn confetti collected from the yard, Friendly Village dishes, and my mom Nadine’s amber glassware complete the look.

Leaves were scattered by Mother Nature.

Up next is Katie from Let’s Add Sprinkles. I adore her collection of turkeys.

A Season of Thanks

I’m so thankful to everyone who visits.

Happy Autumn!

Laura

Laura, I LOVE the rich colors of your table linens and centerpiece! I do believe the red cabbage as your centerpiece works better than any pumpkin could have. Such great use of the drapery fabric your found, and the table topper adds beautiful weight and texture to the overall look. The photo with Gracie doing her rounds along the brick will is super cute. So glad Texas has cooled its summer jets and given you guys a chance to enjoy the outdoors again. Another bead of gratitude in this season of thanks.

Beautiful, Laura! Jewel tones have long been favorites for me. I used to call them King Tut colors.

You always crack me up Laura. And even if you made matching outfits for Eric and Gracie, they’d wear it happily for you. Love the cabbage idea. It’s perfect for your gorgeous table!. Happy Thanksgiving.

Laura, I’m loving how you pulled this beautiful jewel toned tablescape together and the cabbage and flower centerpiece is just perfect! (When you mentioned using drapes for clothes I first pictured Gone With The Wind LOL.)

I love your idea of creating your floral arrangement in a red cabbage; just gorgeous! Love the whole color scheme of your cozy setting. I honestly would never have thought of using jewel tones with those dishes; love how it looks! Your doggie in the background is my fave pic, though:)

Laura, your talent amazes me! That dress turned out so pretty and I love your creative use of the fabric that inspired such a gorgeous jewel toned theme. That cabbage with the pears is so unique and lovely.

As soon as you mentioned the draperies I thought, “Laura is going all Maria on us!” Yes, you knew!

It’s a beautiful table and I love that the draperies have found a beautiful use (and hopefully don’t end up as liederhosen!)

Laura, I love dining outdoors and you are so right ~ our fall weather in North Texas has been amazing. The idea of the purple cabbage as a centerpiece base is a great way to bring natural events and beautiful color to your tablescape. Happy Thanksgiving to the new empty nesters.

LOVE the bright jewel tone colors. Funny, first thought I had was Scarlet O’Hara and the lovely green velvet draperies!! Anyway haha, those are perfect Fall colors, especially the “aubergine” and gold/pumpkin colors. You always amaze me with your fabulous sewing skills and costumes. Hope you’re having a wonderful November!!
