On a beautiful day during spring break I took the kids on a picnic at the park right around the corner from our house. Barefoot In The Park.
Barefoot In The Park
We packed up the enamel cups and metal plates we generally use while camping as well as the ticking napkins tied up with twine and a bit of rosemary from the backyard.
With the exception of two fishermen sitting next to the lake, we had the park to ourselves.
Everyone said grace before enjoying the BLT sandwiches.
The heirloom tomatoes were enhanced with just a smidge of French sea salt and tasted like candy.
Rudi begged, “PLEASE may I have just a little bite?”
His hunger was pacified with the dog biscuits we brought along although he would rather have had a bit of brie with apple.
The Fashionista showed off her cartwheel skills. It’s good to know that the gymnastic lessons have held up even years later.
All in all a perfect day to be barefoot in the park.
Where do you picnic?

Ahhhh….I love a nice simple picnic. And what a lovely spot you have to enjoy one. I like to be close to water so one of our favourite places is by the Bay of Fundy at St Martin's (in New Brunswick, Canada). To have the waves lap on the shore and the fresh breeze coming off the water boosts the appetite and no matter how much food I take along, they finish it all. I find simple foods go best but whatever, it always tastes better at a picnic!
Thanks for sharing your happy pics! 🙂

We picnic on the waterfront! I love an impromptu near the Brown's Point lighthouse.
How nice to have such a lovely, well maintained park so near to your home!
My daughter, her husband, Jason and Holland will be in Carefree this week. Jason's brother and his lovely fiancee will be married on Saturday.
Blessings to you and all of your adorables!

It sounds like a wonderful picnic, Laura! I have plans to take my daughter and granddaughter on one to our local arboretum once the weather warms up again. Of course, my granddaughter is more interested in the pond they have, so I'm hoping a nice lunch will keep her distracted. For a little while anyway!

Ah how lovely! So wonderful to spend quality time with your kids! It's not quite warm enough here yet. It was a few weeks ago – spring came early – but now it's in the 50's and 60's and is just chilly most mornings and even at 60 we've had enough cool wind it's just not time to piknik! But it will be! My kids like to go to what they call the 'duck park'. it's in my hometown – the park I went to as a child. They have tons of ducks there and a nice playground too. Gotta make sure we get that on our agenda for this summer sometime!

Looks like fun!!
We usually picnic on road trips… pack a lunch and when we are hungry we stop at a park and eat. Less eating out at restaurants.
I am also a fan of picnic lunches on the living room floor.

When the kids were young, their favorite picnics were on our family room floor! We would turn down the lights, light candles and pretend we were somewhere mysterious. Now I love to eat outdoors whenever possible, whether it is a picnic or not. But there is something just special about a picnic that indeed makes us want to go barefoot. (Fav movie and play, BTW). I absolutely love a picnic, and we just don't do it as much anymore. Right now, we're being inundated with bugs like I haven't seen in years so we're going to have to picnic inside on the living room floor.
Which… now that I think about it might be a fun surprise this weekend.
