I find joy in classic architecture, vintage fashions, farm to table recipes, and a good book to hold in my hands. I rarely find what my heart wants in big box stores. Instead, antique and vintage treasures call to me at estate sales. I sometimes wonder if my preferences and desire for old fashioned kindness make me just another relic? I am thankful for the kindred spirits who read this website. You make me feel that I am not alone in cherishing the handcrafted and seeking out ways of slow living. Here’s to Sunday Smiles Yesteryear.
Sunday Smiles Yesteryear
Earlier this week Calico and Twine wrote a new post with an accompanying video. I suggest you grab a cup of tea or lemonade and savor her spring kitchen.
An English Country Cottage
I absolutely adore this 1700s chocolate box thatch home that has been lovingly restored.
Rare Gowns Found In Trunk
Such an incredible find! I always wonder how numerous Louis Vuitton steamer trunks can sit abandoned for decades.
Riding The Rails
Taking a journey on the Belmond British Pullman Train has now been added to my Travel Dreams list.
A Perfect Potting Shed
I am still toiling the soil in my garden to transform it into something special. I know it will always be a work in progress. The trompe l’oeil artwork on Bunny Mellon’s potting shed is truly incredible.
A New Era
I’m waiting until next weekend to watch Downton Abbey A New Era. Are you planning to see this film? I can’t wait!
I’ll see you on Tuesday!

Need To Catch Up?
Thank you for all of your lovely comments on the Storybook Cottage Kitchen Reveal.

You are so right Laura! Old is beautiful. Especially when lovingly maintained or restored. But like most things the interest of a generation peaks and wanes until they ‘re-discover’ these beautiful things all over again and regret their loss over time. I am still flabbergasted that anyone desires the cold and lifeless, sparse, hardline furniture and things from the 60s and 70s but to some it is their memories of the past or a time they wish they had lived in.
I love my older things but have passed a lot on to our children and grandchildren so they can grow up with them and enjoy their uniqueness in an age of mass produced and cheaply made. And as we get older these treasures require more time and care than I am willing to indulge them anymore.. I want to spend my retirement years enjoying the young people who are growing up too fast. I want to enjoy the changing seasons and nature. And I want more comfort and less house work! lol
Enjoy your beautiful treasures while you are young and full of energy and imagination. <3 🙂
Thank you for your beautiful Sunday Post! And that train ride looks like a wonderful dream trip. Hopefully you are able to ride the rails on it soon!
