A Christmas Makeover

I am writing this post one day after my last exhausting college final. Inside my home, except for a half-finished tree and a small advent calendar, you would not know that it was Christmas. There is no wreath on my front door. There is not a single garland draped anywhere. Do I need A Christmas Makeover? I am a gal who, in the past, has decorated even her bathrooms. Given that I write a blog that is primarily about making a home pretty, you can assume that yes, this is unusual for me. A ... View the Post

Wow! Nie Nie has brought an early Christmas to me

Do you read the Nie Nie Dialogues? I do. Stephanie Nielson is an inspiration to me. A few weeks ago she announced she was looking for handmade goodies to feature on her blog this week. Last Friday she announced she had gotten HUNDREDS of submissions. Wow! Nie Nie has brought an early Christmas to me. Imagine my surprise when I read her blog this morning and see this: Wow! Nie Nie has brought an early Christmas to me! I then checked my ETSY shop and found that the shelves were almost ... View the Post

A Hilarious Hot Mess

Over the past few weeks, I have been consumed by end of semester projects and trying to find Christmas. My poor family has been subsisting on frozen food. I am, needless to say, A Hilarious Hot Mess, and my house…. oh the horror I haven’t cleaned house in over 2 weeks. A Hilarious Hot Mess Yet somehow this man still loves me and took me out to celebrate his birthday a bit early last Saturday. I think it was the last time my hair and makeup were done. The tree is STILL without a topper and ... View the Post

Finding Christmas

It was difficult Finding Christmas this year. I didn’t put up one scarecrow at Halloween. My pair of well-worn pilgrims were not anywhere in our home at Thanksgiving. This is unusual for me. Friends and family members alike commented on the lack of my, generally abundant, holiday décor… and now, December beckons. With it the fear of a lack of Finding Christmas. As a rule, my gifts are bought and our Christmas cards are sent before the first week has passed. But this year felt different.  My ... View the Post

Pumpkin Pie Alternatives and Funny kids

It’s Monday. Sometimes at the start of a stressful week, I need extra encouragement in remembering just how blessed I am. I have NO idea where these two learned such outlandish behavior. Probably from their Auntie. Pumpkin Pie Alternatives and Funny kids. (Sweet boy and the Fashionista mugging it up on the way to see Sir Elton John.) Pumpkin Pie Alternatives and Funny kids Truth time. I would be perfectly happy to never eat another slice of pumpkin pie. I know, it’s totally ... View the Post

An Unexpected Thanksgiving Table

Ok, I’ll admit it that I am not fond of orange or rust. While I like those tones on trees, they are not my favorite for dining room design. I decided to create a tablescape using colors I adore but would still result in a fabulously fall Thanksgiving table. I bring you An Unexpected Thanksgiving Table. An Unexpected Thanksgiving Table Drawing inspiration from an antique Victorian postcard, I began with an antique dove gray Métis sheet topped by a vintage charcoal damask ... View the Post
