I have an extra headboard laying around and have been pondering a “should it stay or should it go now” solution. It was used in Sweet Guy’s travel themed bedroom. He has outgrown his twin bed and we recently finished transforming an antique full size head and footboard which I will be sharing soon. Both Mr. Décor and I love the various curves of the old pine piece. Even the hardware where the rails attach has fabulous patina. So I am thinking about doing this: Keep reading for ... View the Post
Easy Sauerbraten in the Slow Cooker
Sauerbraten is a traditional German dish that Mr. Décor grew to love when we were stationed at Ramstein A.F.B. I try to make it for him at least once a year. “Sauer” means exactly what it sounds like~ sour or pickled. “Braten” means roast meat. It is so tender and easy to make in a crockpot. Keep reading for the easy recipe. 3 to 5 pound beef sirloin roast or brisket 2 cups of homemade (or 1 box) beef broth or stock 4 potatoes, 4 carrots and 1 onion all thinly sliced 1 cup ... Laura’s Boysenberry Baked French Toast
I imagine that like me many of you have pinned several recipes to your Pinterest board and then never did anything else. Last week I decided to change all that. Since it was spring break I took advantage that I had a week off of school and spring cleaned my house from top to bottom in addition to doing a million things to prepare our condo for sale. Unbelievably during this chaos my family still expected hot meals. :) Now Mr. Décor is the type of man that when he is doing hard, manly labor ... View the Post
Top O’ The Mornin’ To Ya Tablescape
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Are you wearing a wee bit o’ green? Start your day in a lucky way with this Top O’ The Mornin’ To Ya Tablescape. Top O’ The Mornin’ To Ya Tablescape Over the weekend I created a tablescape inspired by the holiday but didn’t feature a single leprechaun or four-leaf clover. This way it can be enjoyed for a week or two instead of just a few days. I began with a tablecloth that I found at an estate sale probably 3 or 4 years ago. The bright and happy embroidery colors ... New Kitchen and Laundry Area Tiled For Less Than $35!
As you may know we are updating the condo our daughter lived in while attending ASU. She has graduated so we are now ready to sell it. We did try to sell it for a great price without updates. We received the nicest compliments about how clean it was, that it was in good shape, the bathroom was amazing... the only complaints and reasons for not purchasing the property were along the lines of “the kitchen appliances and flooring were dated”. Our mistake was that we had assumed someone would ... View the Post
