Diamond Jubilee A Feast Fit For A Queen

On Saturday morning I awoke early to decorate our breakfast table for the Diamond Jubilee A Feast Fit For A Queen celebration.

Diamond Jubilee A Feast Fit For A Queen

Diamond Jubilee A Feast Fit For A Queen

The centerpiece featured a vintage biscuit tin celebrating the Queen’s 1952 coronation.

Diamond Jubilee A Feast Fit For A Queen

I found it last summer at the Rose Bowl Flea Market for $2.50.

The red roses and blue bachelor buttons came from the Fresh & Easy clearance bin ~ $2.00.

The white peonies were a bit more at $7, but their lovely fragrance was worth it.

The tin even has its original lid.

As I am preparing to move, all of my tablecloths were already packed. Luckily, I had this very generously sized vintage French linen dishtowel. The red stripe reminded me of a flag.

Free Printables

In my own castle, I like to think the napkin ring is accurate. The free printable was featured on the DTA Facebook page. Yet another good reason to visit.

Mr. Décor was not to be outdone, so he was bestowed with “His Royal Highness”.

The day prior Sweet Boy and I had constructed a patriotic bunting with a twist ~ the flags were hung with rick rack from our overhead lighting fixture.

Striped straws were jazzed up with paper punched toppers.

Here’s what we had for breakfast. It was, after all, tea time in London.

Don’t be all that impressed. While I generally make my own scones, cream and lemon curd from scratch I am a bit pressed for time at the moment so a mix came in handy.

My dear friend Jenny found the vintage tea towel for me in a thrift store in Texas of all places. Love it!!!

Scones

Scones can be rolled and cut out with a circular biscuit cutter or a quicker method is to mound it up and cut the dough into triangles with a pizza cutter.

Scones

Either method results in one word ~ YUM!

Scones

Our tea of choice was sent to us by Cousin T last year. I had an early morning sip from a cup I also found at the Rose Bowl for $2.50.

tea

It is a bit worn but very collectible. Any idea why?

tea

It was China which was mass produced to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VIII. Of course, that never happened as he famously abdicated for love and the Queen’s father, George VI, became King and she became heir to the throne.

tea

An estate sale find gifted to me by Jenny is a tin featuring Queen Mary…

tin

… and King George V.

tin

This biscuit tin was made in celebration of their Silver Jubilee in 1935. Big treasure. Whoever has the lid, please send it to me.

In addition to scones, over the course of the weekend, we also enjoyed tomato (to MAH toe) and cheese pie, toad in the hole and trifle.

trifle

A few of you asked if my family shares my Royal enthusiasm. Let’s just say that they are very enthusiastic when it comes to food. This was a dinner of poached salmon, English peas, potato salad, and watermelon. The Fashionista opted not to pose.

Kings

The gentlemen rather enjoy a grand opportunity to mug for the camera.

Kings

Pip, pip, and cheerio!
