Do you need a family-friendly show to watch while the networks are showing reruns? Today here is a Bits of Bliss Lark Rise To Candleford. Right now I am thoroughly enjoying this new to me BBC series. It was based on a series of books of the same name written by Flora Thompson. The show originally ran from 2008 until 2011 and it is currently….my one weakness. Bits of Bliss Lark Rise To Candleford The main heroine of the story is Laura Timmins who bridges the gap when she leaves her ... View the Post
A Daybed in the Sunroom
Earlier this week I had one of my famous bright ideas. After weeks of wondering just what type of furniture I wanted to put in the sunroom, the thought occurred to me to have A Daybed in the Sunroom. We would need to move the daybed I wrote about it on Tuesday down from my office. The Fashionista said, “Let’s try it because I don’t think the bed is really working upstairs.” Sweet Guy though was on the fence. That is until we lugged the two heavy sideboards and rails down the stairs and put it ... View the Post
Celebrating the Last of Eleanor’s Aprons With a Giveaway
We are Celebrating the Last of Eleanor’s Aprons With a Giveaway. Update: The Random Number Generator has selected Rue of An Old Fashioned World as the winner! I first shared “Eleanor’s Aprons” way back in April. Since that time I have continued sewing. Stitch by stitch my grieving heart has mended. As the stack of precious vintage fabric, laces and handkerchiefs grew smaller and smaller I felt better and better. All of the aprons shown here (plus a few others) were sent off ... View the Post
A Closer Look at the Kitchen Renovation – Subway Tile Backsplash
When we first decided to replace the countertops we had a thought to keep the existing backsplash. The variegated square stone tiles weren’t too bad. However, once we decided to go with Corian countertops the bottom tiles needed to be removed for the countertop installation. Upon closer inspection we knew there would be no way to salvage the stone tile as they had been applied directly to the sheetrock. There were also a host of other issues. It took about half a second for me to answer when ... View the Post
Create Easy Watercolor Pillows
I am so excited! Today the Summer Tour of Homes starts over at A Stroll Through Life. Every day this week Marty will be sharing six homes with sweet summer style. I was honored to be asked to join in on the fun this Wednesday. One of the projects that I did to summarize my front room was to create fun and vibrant watercolor inspired pillow covers. They are fairly quick and inexpensive to make and you can customize them to your exact color décor. You will need: Sharpie markers in the colors ... View the Post
Learning to Love a Wonky Window
Ah Storybook Cottage. Such an apt name for this charmer. I’ve now learned that the word “charm” can cover a multitude of housing sins. At times, as I roam from room to room, I feel a bit like “The Crooked Man” from Mother Goose. Except that I don’t have a crooked cat but my doxie, Rudi, does have a crooked ear that never lays flat. Recently, we put in new countertops and a subway tile backsplash in the kitchen. (More photos to be shared shortly.) In our short time living here we have ... View the Post
