I’m in San Luis Obispo this weekend. It’s been quite a few years since I toured the San Luis Obispo mission which was founded by Father Junipero Serra in 1772. The church has an unusual “L” shaped design featuring a short and narrow nave as well as a secondary nave almost the same size on the right side of the altar. The layout of the belfry and vestibule can be found nowhere else among all the other California missions. It is truly a special place. “if I delay, you may know how one ... View the Post
A Succulent Wreath For Summer
Phoenix has now began its rapid ascent towards summer. Which meant that my viola and alyssum filled pots of spring wreath needed an update that could withstand 115+ degree temperatures. I opted to go with faux succulents found at Joann’s because WOW do they look real! I snipped off individual pieces with wire cutters. Then pushed them into the still dirt filled pots. Mother’s Day Tablescape Ideas
My dear friend Liz from Rose Vignette’s recently invited me to a Ladies Tea held at her church. It was truly a wonderfully uplifting and inspiring event. She told me that there would be over 40 tables each decorated with a different theme so I arrived early with my camera. This table was simply decorated with garden store daisies, a quick and inexpensive centerpiece. The take away gift featured packets of seeds showcased on place card holders. Brilliant! The darling button garland that Donna from Funky ... View the Post
Updating Old Blazers
In the winter when I am just puttering around at home you can find me wearing a uniform of sorts. Recently I began Updating Old Blazers. The uniform consists of a long sleeve t-shirt (generally the Merona brand from Target) and jeans (whatever is on sale and can fit my pear shape). We don’t wear shoes indoors so I keep my feet warm on the cold tile with cozy leopard slippers. :) If I am cooking or doing a bit of deep cleaning the ensemble is topped by an apron. My collection includes ... View the Post
How To Clean An Antique Crystal Chandelier with bloopers
This antique crystal chandelier hung in my mom Nadine’s house for many years. It was dirty so I set out to remove the grime. How To Clean An Antique Crystal Chandelier with bloopers. How To Clean An Antique Crystal Chandelier with bloopers When we cleaned out my mom's house no one else wanted this chandelier. There were even under the breath mumblings of “It’s ugly.” I pleaded its case “It’s an art deco chandelier. With real crystals.” No takers. Lucky me. It arrived safely in a box in ... View the Post
