A big thank you to all who left such kind comments and emails regarding our new look for an antique bed. Here is Sweet Guy’s new bedding. Most of it came from our linen closet. When talking about what look he wanted for his room he chose this image. I asked him what elements he liked about the space and it was the color gray, the street signs, painted “Beatles” wall and the exposed brick. I told him that since we were moving the wall elements might have to wait until we were settled ... View the Post
A New Look For An Antique Bed
This project has been in the works for awhile. You might recall that back in January I shared Sweet Guy’s travel themed bedroom. I mentioned that he had outgrown the bed with the lovely antique pine headboard and needed something bigger. About the same time the Fashionista returned home as we put the condo that she was living in on the market. So we had no room for the guest room bed I had found a few years ago on Craiglist. It was a lovely frame that had come with a really bad white ... View the Post
A Spring Makeover For Me
You guys I have been SO busy with school that I hadn’t been to the hairdressers since January! I had been cutting my bangs and the front myself. Does anyone else do that? But the the back of my hair was horrible and you can visibly see that it had been quite a while since my hair had met foil. (Yes, I am very blessed that at my age I only have to highlight my hair. My grandfather Roy still had a head of dark wavy hair well into his 80’s and I am crossing my fingers!) Necklace and blouse~ ... View the Post
Updating Thrift Store Art
I’ve been busy transforming free and thrift store art to create a nautical themed gallery wall in my hallway. It’s coming along pretty well and I am in the home stretch. Do you want to see how dated they looked before? Keep reading! Over two years ago I had hit the thrift store jackpot when I came upon an entire cache of vintage French and Italian metal frames for mere pennies. I used a few of the frames on my entry way gallery wall. As well as creating a bit of lampshade ... View the Post
Delicious Greek Pasta Salad
It’s already getting so warm in Phoenix that I hesitate to turn my oven on. This recipe is a cool family favorite and so easy to make. The recipe is as follows: I box of cooked orzo pasta ( I use Barilla.) 1 deseeded and chopped English Cucumber (although a regular cuke will do in a pinch) 2 cups halved cherry tomatoes (or 2 regular tomatoes deseeded and chopped) 1/2 cup chopped purple onion 1/3 cup thinly sliced fresh basil 1 1/2 cups crumbled feta cheese (more or less per your ... Perfect for a Spring Brunch~ Julia’s Quiche Aux Oignons
As my children are now older I have found myself transitioning from egg hunts to really focusing on Easter itself. In this way we celebrate not just one day, but the entire Holy week. On Palm Sunday I went and got sprinkle donuts in spring colors. I never do this and my kids were thrilled. This morning I arose early to make Julia Child’s Quiche Aux Oignons (Onion Quiche). I used leeks which I love dearly and they feel like spring to me. You can find Julia’s original recipe HERE. I made ... View the Post
