Oh Sandy! Sweet T’s Halloween By Candlelight

Hurricane Sandy arrived with a vengeance. I have family in both Virginia and Pennsylvania and therefore I was and am watching closely and praying heavily. Cousin L in Arlington lost power. I found this image that made me weep. These men NEVER give up their post come hell or high water. Yesterday was a little bit of both. Cousin Sweet T in Pennsylvania also lost power and is currently still without it. School has been closed and people have been advised to remain at home. Halloween has ... View the Post

Day 26 ~ Paper Pumpkin Candy Pouches from the Dollar Store

Today I am headed out to lunch with some of my blogging friends ~ Linda, Marty, Ceekay, Mimi and Cindy. These girls are my heart and I always like to bring a small token of affection to show how much I appreciate their friendship. So here is how to make Day 26 ~ Paper Pumpkin Candy Pouches from the Dollar Store. Day 19 ~ Creative College: Capturing Dreams on Paper

I love to create notebooks of collage. They serve as inspiration ~ capturing my innermost hopes, fancies and dreams on paper. I attend estate sales, search through thrift stores and scour through dusty boxes of garage sale books that are no longer loved. While some people like to decorate the fronts of their books, I leave mine rather plain. It is a way of keeping secret the beauty that lies within. For this recent college I found an old record ledger book and embellished it with vintage ... View the Post

The Art of Hanging Pictures Perfectly

Hanging artwork with great precision can turn even the most perfect mannered miss into a swearing sailor. Here are a few of my favorite devices found in the toolbox that I ALWAYS carry with me to design jobs. (And no, no one is paying me for this post. This is my unpaid opinion.) If you have a piece of artwork that comes with a wire attached on the back let me introduce you to the Picture Placer. You slide the plastic guide down to cover the frame. On the back you lift the wire into ... View the Post

Back To Cool

Last week I went back to school shopping with Sweet Boy. As we embarked on our quest I asked him if there were any specific items that he was looking for. It was time for Back To Cool. Back To Cool His reply: “A white shirt, pants I can roll up and definitely a vest and suspenders.” Luckily, I had just swallowed my big gulp of Pepsi. I tried playing it cool and said “That’s an interesting combination. What is your inspiration?” “Mom, you know how sissy (aka The Fashionista) loves One ... View the Post

Queen For A Day

On the day of her birthday my grandmother proclaimed that the Queen of England had nothing on her. Stuffed into my suitcase along with all the other party paraphernalia was a spool of double faced satin ribbon, press on glitter letters and a crown that each received the full on birthday treatment. I had exactly one hour to decorate the entire space AND lay out the food. I should have packed my roller skates. Then it was just me and fifty people who wanted cake. So….. there weren’t ...
