Happy All Hallows Eve! After (almost) two very long months we are officially moving into Storybook Cottage today. Yipeeee! I recently came across an article that mentioned an entire ghost town could be purchased for perhaps as little as $800,000. After viewing picture after glorious picture, taken by Karen of This Old House 2 Blog, I was entranced. Much like Grandmother’s house you go over the river and through the woods to get to Johnsonville, Connecticut. I envisioned hosting weddings ... View the Post
A Halloween Collection
Today our furniture is set to arrive to Storybook Cottage. There is still quite of bit of work to be done, but as in most houses we will continue to chip away at our “to do” list while actually living in the home. I know it will take me a week or two to unpack all of the boxes. Our neighbors have decorated their homes for fall in such a festive manner. I can’t wait to share all their darling porches with you. That is as soon as I find the battery charger for my camera. :) So while I take a ... View the Post
HELP! There is an Elephant err Fireplace in the Room
Right when you walk into our new home you are greeted with a large brick fireplace. In fact it is one of the largest fireplaces that I have ever seen. I am going to tell you right now that Mr. Décor LOVES this fireplace. I am on the fence about it. Actually, I have been trying my best to ignore it. The room is SO dark that for me the first issue has been to paint the walls of the room. That will be happening later this week. Bye bye boring, cave like brown. I imagine that once there is ... A Very British Bathroom err Loo
In the upstairs of the Storybook Cottage I am planning on creating very happy and colorful rooms. This includes a small bathroom that has no natural light sources. I would love to try my hand at hanging wallpaper. My first choice would be “Amrapali – Peony” by Designers Guild Or lovely “Dutch Painters” by Pip Studio To balance out all the floral I would hang some eclectic portraiture. Queen Elizabeth by Andy Warhol, 1985 I think some brass hardware would be perfect. Kingston ... View the Post
Praise Him With A Paintbrush
It’s Saturday night and I watch the time closely while I am making dinner. I turn the heat on the stove to low and race up to the second floor. There are just two washers and two dryers to serve the needs of all the people currently staying in this hotel. It seems that there is always a line so I like to make sure that I am never late to throw the laundered clothes into the dryer. I am six minutes early. So I sit down in the warm, quiet room. I am by myself . This has not happened in several ... View the Post
The 10 Cent Tour–Storybook Cottage
It is 10:30 on Tuesday night as I write this post. I should be sleeping as I have been working 12-14 hours a day on the house while trying to recover from strep throat. I think the cleaning portion of the program will be finished tomorrow and I am feeling a wee bit better. Hurray for small victories! If you are following our slow progress on Instagram you know I have been pondering just how I was going to paint our very tall stairwell. Mr. Decor and I finally threw in the DIY towel and I have ...
