A Circa 1940's Student Nursing Uniform

A Circa 1940’s Student Nursing Uniform

Way back in July I traveled to California to attend Costume College. What is Costume College you ask? It is an annual three-day educational conference produced by Costumer's Guild West, Inc. to provide educational classes, programs, and tours. Professional seamstresses, costume designers, as well as historical fashion and sewing enthusiasts come from all over the world to teach and attend this fabulous event. Friday night the theme was the 1940's so I choose to create a costume very close to my ... View the Post

Saturday Smiles On Target

Earlier this week I took a few moments to make a few "to-do" lists. They included an autumn housekeeping list, a sewing list, and a home improvement list. Were working on the one item on the last list today which means it's a Saturday Smiles On Target. An 1830's Raised Cottage I don't often find a home tour where I am enchanted with each and every room. But I could move right into this charming Antebellum home and not change a thing. A Happy Homecoming Last weekend was Homecoming at my ... View the Post

Pretty Costumes For Fall

Hello dear friends! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend. I got the upstairs bathroom painted and Sweet Guy attended his Homecoming Dance. As promised in last week's Downton Abbey dress post I am sharing several Pretty Costumes For Fall as worn by members of the D/FW Costumers Guild. Several of the guild members recently attended the Monet at the Kimball event. The exhibit focused on the late years that the artist practiced which covered 1913 to 1926. Saturday Smiles Get It Done

All summer this website has been limping along with one post a week and BAM! this week I shared three different projects. I've been in a rut about any home DIY since last spring. But this week someone or something lit a match under me. I'll post all the direct links to the three posts at the bottom of the page. Today I'm painting a bathroom. Saturday Smiles Get It Done. Saturday Smiles Get It Done I'm trying to also get organized BEFORE the holiday rush begins. I've been cleaning out ... View the Post

A Downton Abbey Inspired Dress

Thank you everyone for all of your kind comments on my recent Fall Home Tour. As promised here is A Downton Abbey Inspired Dress. I have mentioned a few times that I am a member of the D/FW Costumers Guild. We attend several events a year together. An early fall outing was planned to attend Monet At The Kimball. The exhibit focused on the artists' last works from 1913 to 1926. I decided to create a dress style from the late Edwardian/early teens era. As such a dress would take a bit of time and ... Saturday Smiles A Stitch In Time

Hello sweet friends! How has another week come and gone? Being on the road for five weeks has made this summer truly fly by. Since my return home last week I have said every day that I will write another post besides Saturday Smiles. But I am still working 16 hour days and find little time to do so. The good news is that many of those hours have been spent on projects I hope to feature very soon. Until then, enjoy Saturday Smiles A Stitch In Time. I returned home to a mountain of ...
