The Slow Season Hope

It feels like anything but a slow season. Everywhere I turn the media is telling me that there is very little time left until Christmas. I must hurry to get the best deal. I must rush and wrap the presents.  I must quickly do my holiday baking. I must dash to decorate every square inch of my home. Perfectly. Instead, I want The Slow Season Hope. I can remember the days when Christmas decorating didn’t begin until the day after Thanksgiving. Now I feel like the odd gal out because I still ... Thankful

Thankful. Early weekday mornings at Storybook Cottage are filled with scrambled eggs and dirty dishes. Homework is hastily gathered from every room in the house and lost shoes are found. Never Stop Learning

I hope to someday be old and wise. So I will Never Stop Learning. Never Stop Learning One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was from 92-year-old Grandma Jingles. She told me that she was proud of me for sticking with my education despite the many obstacles I had faced but that even once I earned my degree she hoped I would never stop learning. As she sat in her chair I looked at the side table stacked with the several medical journals she received each month. They had been ... View the Post

Something Better

As I have started my last year in college I have begun to examine what my future plans might be. Where do I see myself? What direction am I going? In an attempt to forge a path a few months ago I applied to be a representative for a fabric company. In a nutshell, I was not selected and it was disappointing. But I chose to believe in Something Better. Because I have often learned that our heart's current desire is perhaps not the best long-term choice for us. Recently, through a series of ... May Your Joy Be Full

I turned another year older yesterday and I couldn’t be happier about it! May Your Joy Be Full. May Your Joy Be Full With all my recent travels I feel like I’ve been celebrating my birthday all month long. There’s been an opportunity for dancing, merriment, and flowers. “Spring” by Lawerence Alma-Tadema, c. 1894 Delightfully restful naps. “Mischief and Repose” by John William Godward, c. 1895 As well as wonderfully good things to eat. “Fruit Piece” by Jan van Huysum Fruit Piece, ...
