For many it’s that time of year again. The annual “What do I pack my kid for lunch?” blah’s. I used to have this same dilemma until I came across a few blogs that feature Bento lunchboxes. For those of you unfamiliar with the art of Bento, it is a single-portion meal originating in Japan. A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat, and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables, packed artistically in a box-shaped container. I will stop right here and let you know I DO NOT take it to ... View the Post
Silver for Sunday Supper
When I was a little girl it was my job was to set the table for dinner. It was always Silver for Sunday Supper. Except on Business ~ Lucien Davis, 1885 Silver for Sunday Supper My Grandmother Mary and Papa Jack had a set of silver plate that they used for their everyday utensils. It featured lovely swirls and curves and a small rose right below the “V” monogram. My tiny fingers would often trace out the design. To my eye it was the loveliest set of silver I had ever seen. Wayfaring Wednesday Cool Cozumel
I am trying to think cool thoughts while the thermometer explodes. Given that I still have my hands full while Sweet Boy recovers from his recent surgery I decided to repost this oldie but goodie. A few days ago Sweet Boy had some fairly extensive dental surgery. An oral surgeon removed a total of 5 teeth to prepare him for braces next week. Two of the teeth were so badly impacted that the normally 30 minute procedure took close to two hours. (Yes, mom was a basket case.) But greater pain was in store for me that night. As we prepared for bed Sweet Boy sighed and said I need to prepare for When the Tooth Fairy Comes to Visit for the Last Time. It was true. The surgeon had removed all ... View the Post

Keep their ages in mind as I now tell you a story. Warning: young egg collectors should not read any further. What’s On Your To Do List and Oscar Entertainment
My next door neighbors are refinishing their pool. I hear a constant buzzing hum right outside my office window. There had better be a pool party soon Phyllis! (Hee hee~ She reads the blog.) It’s all give and take since I imagine she and Al probably wondered what was going on at our house last weekend. We had a houseguest and two dinner parties this past weekend. Like myself, the house is still in recovery mode. While I have washed all of the table linens, I have not cleared off the sideboard, ... View the Post
