Keukenhof Gardens

One of the most beautiful gardens that I have ever had the opportunity to visit was the Keukenhof Gardens in Holland. The garden is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary. Keukenhof Gardens While we were living in Germany I had heard about the gardens and wanted so badly to visit. My cousin was also living overseas at the time. He was in Scotland experiencing a semester abroad at the Glasgow School of Art. (You can read about the beautiful library in THIS POST.) Eric had asked if he ... View the Post

Hummingbird Happiness

This is currently the view from our back door featuring a very dirty patio chandelier that hangs above our patio table. I had set out to do a bit of spring cleaning earlier in the week and found a little something that said it would have to wait. Hummingbird Happiness. Hummingbird Happiness The following images feature a different angle taken through the glass doors. The quality is a bit poor, but I know you'll forgive me as you probably wouldn't want to disturb such a wee mother either. ... View the Post

A Lesson in Love and Friendship

You just never know when you will meet a person who will change your life forever. A Lesson in Love and Friendship. In the third grade, I met T. She sat at my table in Miss Dobson's class. When we walked home together we discovered that we had become next door neighbors. My third-grade photo  A Lesson in Love and Friendship By all accounts we were as opposite as two little girls could be. I was a gangly brunette who loved barbies. T was a petite blond who loved softball. But somehow we ... View the Post

Christmas cooking disasters and other thoughts

I would have loved to have a bit of time to recoup from my tough semester, but I spent the past few days deep cleaning my home as my mom came to visit us over the weekend for the first time in 11 years! (We were living overseas for most of the time.) So, with a clean house and tons of leftover food, I now have a bit of free time to catch up on blogging. I thought you might enjoy Christmas cooking disasters and other thoughts. The Christmas season is just beginning for me, I am SO excited! I ... View the Post

5 geese a flying, 4 smiling faces, 1 lil doggie…

It's been awhile since our last family portrait. I am not even sure that this even qualifies as a portrait~ it is more of a snapshot. It was taken when Sweet Boy was two and we participated in our church's Walk Through Bethlehem. Our daughter, a fashion design student, made the costumes. 5 geese a flying, 4 smiling faces, 1 Lil doggie... 5 geese a flying, 4 smiling faces, 1 Lil doggie... Perhaps because fall is the busiest time of year for our family, the thought of trying to squeeze in ... View the Post

The Garland of Christmas Past

Are you ready for a true tale of long ago love?  Here is The Garland of Christmas Past. The Garland of Christmas Past I don't have a mantle over a fireplace or even a shelf. So I hang a garland at the foot of my bed. It is an ordinary garland made up of faux greenery, icicles, and pine cones. But the ornaments on the garland make it very, very special.  My parents were married in September of 1967. They had but one Christmas together before my dad passed away in February of ...
