Sailing, Sailing Over the Deep Blue Sea

When I last left you the military police were arresting me at Norfolk Naval Station for peeping into the backyards of the beautiful housing known as Admiral’s Row. Sailing, Sailing Over the Deep Blue Sea. Just kidding. Almost. From there we went to see the Navy’s oldest continually running hospital in Portsmouth. Sailing, Sailing Over the Deep Blue Sea Meandering around Portsmouth we came upon a floating lighthouse. I had never heard of such a thing and thought it was incredibly ... View the Post

Sweetheart Advent Elves Week 1

Many of you have been sending me emails asking “What exactly are the elves doing?” in regards to the Advent Calendar I created for Mr. Décor. So here is Sweetheart Advent Elves Week 1. Are you ready for some mush with a big side helping of cheese? Now you already know that Mrs. Elf kicked off the holiday season with much fanfare and love. Sweetheart Advent Elves Week 1 On Sunday (Dec. 2nd) the elves made a huge pancake breakfast for Mr. Décor. Monday (Dec. 3rd) was a busy day, but ... View the Post

On Giving

All week I have been wrapping presents and mailing packages. The room where all this activity is happening currently looks like Christmas exploded. Just like my heart recently did. Here is a story On giving.  Mess and clutter kind of makes me itchy. Now I could have cleaned up on Thursday but I decided to go on an all-day field trip with Sweet Boy’s class. You know, you learn a lot about your child and his friends when you spend several hours with them on a school bus. :) What a ... View the Post

Thanksgiving at Jamestown

I had a big elaborate post planned. I also had pies to bake, turkeys to stuff, and presents to buy. In short, I ran out of time. Still, I think you will enjoy Thanksgiving at Jamestown. Thanksgiving at Jamestown Let me say this: Jamestown is one of the BEST living history museums I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. My son did not want to leave. So without further adieu let’s celebrate the men and women who made the original Thanksgiving possible. Replica’s of the Susan Constant, ... View the Post

Acorn Elves

Every year I create a handcrafted ornament or Christmas decoration for my kids. This year it is Acorn Elves. Acorn Elves In addition I make a limited edition for my etsy shop. While this year is no exception, there is twist. I am calling this years ornament “Elves for Ceekay”. This is my good friend Ceekay (with my doxie Rudi). She writes the blog “Thinkin of Home”. Ceekay is currently in the hospital fighting a very bad reaction to her most recent chemotherapy session. Ceekay and I ... View the Post

The Holiday Wreaths of Colonial Williamsburg

Last Thanksgiving I arose in the early morning and quietly shut the hotel door behind me while Mr. Décor and Sweet Boy slept on. I was on a mission to photograph the buildings, workers and the holiday wreaths of Colonial Williamsburg before the crowds arrived. Indeed the sun was just coming up, my breath frosty in the cold, as I began to walk along the Duke of Gloucester Street. The Holiday Wreaths of Colonial Williamsburg The first wreath I spied had a lovely fir base and was ... View the Post
