Hello sweet friends! I love festive gatherings during the holidays don’t you? This past weekend I invited some of my favorite friends to A Prairie Wonderland Party. It was a tea and treat exchange. These type of soirees were quite popular in the Victorian era through the 1960s.
A Prairie Wonderland Party
The day of the party was clear and beautiful! I set the scene by creating a welcoming entry.
The party began with a few games and icebreakers.
Tiffany and Lou had much to discuss as they had not seen one another since our Little Women themed holiday party last year.
Neat Treats
For a treat exchange everyone brings something to share with everyone else.
The beauty of this type of party is that you leave with an assortment of goodies without all the baking.
My clever friends brought baked goods, savory delights, jars of vintage buttons, special hand crafted ornaments and more.
Participants line up with their empty container and take one of each treat.
There was so many good things that we all went around the table and sideboard three times. Everyone’s plates, containers and baskets were loaded!
Secret Santa
In addition, my daughter Lou and I cleaned out our vintage and costuming closets and hung it all up on racks. Guests were overjoyed when I announced they were welcome to pick out an outfit or accessory to take home.
My Marilla Cuthbert creation looked PERFECT on gorgeous Morgan!
Dear friend Becky brought some of her collection of vintage and antique buttons for guests to peruse.
She also very cleverly brought mason jars of vintage buttons as her “treat” for each guest.
Fashion Show
Several of the guests in attendance are members of the Womens Vintage Society of Dallas. So I anticipated a glorious parade of fine fashion.
I set up a few photo backdrops so that guests could show off their party attire.
Miranda, as always, is stunning!
April, Kisha, and Anisa are a dazzling trio in red.
Miss Benny is always so cute and stylish!
A marvelous mother daughter duo Lisa and Anisa.
Christy’s amazing Edwardian ensemble once was worn by her grandmother. I should have taken a close up shot of the beading!!!
Ginger is party perfection in a pretty plaid circle skirt.
You might recognize darling Samantha. She attended the Jane Austen Inspired Garden Party.
Sewing and pattern details for my dress can be found in this post.
