Hello sweet friends, I hope this very busy week is going well for you. I was not going to make a holiday dress this year and then I found the perfect fabric for A Prairie Wonderland Inspired Party Dress.
The Perfect Fabric
I had gone into Joann’s for some thread. Somehow I bypassed all the fabric. But right near the thread they had a small display of vintage inspired Christmas fabric. I texted my friend Michele and daughter Lou with instructions that they needed to tell me that I did not need this fabric.
They both responded that I NEEDED the fabric. It was perfect for me.
I still managed to leave the store without it and went on to run several more errands.
The entire time I was thinking about the fabric.
So I returned a few hours later and inquired about the price. It was $3.99 a yard.
Vogue 6442
The vintage pattern, Vogue 6442, came from my friend Catharine’s shop. She will soon have a website up and running.
It was a very straightforward pattern to make. The pieces went together beautifully. A beginner sewist could make the dress and sash. The pleated dickie might require a bit of assistance.
A Prairie Wonderland Inspired Party Dress
On Instagram I created a poll asking which accent color people wanted to see. RED overwhelmingly won.
It is a very comfortable dress to wear.
We’ve been having a glorious extended fall here. Once it turns colder I can easily add a sweater.
My favorite detail might just be the big red bow.
