Hello sweet friends, happy Sunday! This weekend I am featuring posts and videos inspired by all things Jane. I hope you will enjoy A Jane Austen Inspired Garden Party.
A Jane Austen Inspired Garden Party
Yesterday’s post featured Creating A Jane Austen Inspired Garden.
The companion video can be viewed HERE.
After many months of working so hard in the garden I wanted to celebrate its beauty with a few of my friends. It was such fun to come up with various garden themed activities. We began by playing a game of croquet. It is the modern day version of the game Pall Mall that was enjoyed during the Regency era.
While we played we made sure to stay hydrated with lemonade and raspberry mint water.
Lovely Ladies
Each of my guests also took a turn around the garden.
Doesn’t Dixie look as though she has stepped back in time? You can see how she made her beautiful dress HERE.
Megan and Michele were stunning in their attire that Michele had made.
Tiffany was a vision in lavender. Her dress video is HERE.
Samantha was gorgeous in green. You can view her videos HERE.
My dear friend Tracy was visiting from California.
All of the above images were taken by my daughter, Alyssa Lou. She had the role of ladies maid and was so darling!
Minty Fresh
I wore a pale mint dress made of linen. The pattern was Laughing Moon 129/130. It went together quite nicely.
The tulip sleeves were my own design.
This is the same bonnet with a lining that I recently shared a tutorial on in this video.
The Potting Bench
Guests were also encouraged to plant a few seeds in a pot to take home.
Cotton gloves protected hands.
Regency era fashion plates were transformed into tags and seed packets.
Seed Packet Printable’s
To make the seed packet pintable’s just left click on each image to save it to your computer. Then print it out however you prefer.
Step by step instructions on how to fold the envelopes are provided in the video.
Other images were placed in frames and used as decor elements in various vignettes.
You can find many other Regency era images on my Pinterest Jane Austen themed garden board and garden party board.
This image was used for the potting bench tags.
As well as placed in a antique frame.
Table Decor
After a stroll thru the garden it was time for tea. As a rather warm day had been predicted I had set the table indoors. But there were plenty of garden touches.
Each place setting featured antique depression era dishes.
A decorative party favor that contained a tincture (herbal tea) was placed at each setting.
Here is the printable.
The sideboard was groaning with delicious desserts. Michele made the macarons and lemon lavender pound cakes.
Spring Noonshine Tea
First Course
Served with Earl Grey tea.
Salmagundy salad from the Dinner with Mr. Darcy cookbook.
Second Course
Served with lemonade.
Assorted tea sandwiches to include egg salad, chicken salad and cucumber.
Third Course
Charcuterie featuring various meats and cheeses, olives, dried fruits and more.
Fourth Course
Served with chamomile tea.
Dessert, my favorite course!
We enjoyed the pound cakes and macarons made by Michele as well as fresh berries with cream and lemon tartlets.

Laura, I’m simply blown away by the beauty and the detail you (and your guests) put into this wonderful event. I love the idea of planting seeds to take home and the pots are so pretty, as are the seed and tincture packet. The food and table are exquisite and of course the gowns, croquet and more are perfect. I can’t think of a more delightful or elegant way to spend a warm afternoon than with other Friends of Jane (and Laura!)

This is hands down the most lovely tea party I have ever seen. My mother and I love Jane Austin, and period movies alike. How fun. beautiful dresses and a great menu. Looks like you ladies had so much fun.
