Star Wars Costume Extravaganza

Happy Monday sweet friends! Welcome to a special Halloween edition here on DTA. This post features the Star Wars Costume Extravaganza.

This is now the fourth Halloween we have enjoyed with the Scoma family.

Star Wars Costume Extravaganza

Every year Mike and Michele plan an epic Halloween theme for their annual party.

Michele is in charge of creating six costumes for her family and collaborates with Mike to create amazing decor for both the inside and outside of their home.

Their home is often featured on the news and cars line up around the block to view the decorations.

This year the theme was Star Wars. Michele portrayed Padmé Amidala and Mike channeled Obi-Wan Kenobi the younger.

Pattern Information

Everyone in the family gets to choose whatever character they would like to be. Michele has been sewing for over 30 years and can make just about anything!

She primarily used patterns and 3D printing files created by Julie-Chantal.

This years photoshoot was done by Michele’s equally talented brother, Mike Roberts.

Eldest daughter Madison chose classic Princess Leia.

Tony, on the far left, wanted to portray Anakin Skywalker.

Sweet Guy’s fiancée, Megan, sat in the makeup chair for quite awhile to achieve Ahsoka Tano.

Megan’s twin, Matt, makes an amazing Luke Skywalker.

It was suggested that this image should be the Save The Date Photo for Sweet Guy and his Sweet Gal.

Han Solo and Ahsoka Tano

I love that these two somehow found each other in this big galaxy.

Han Solo

I instantly knew who Sweet Guy would want to be. Harrison Ford has been his favorite actor since he was five years old.

Han Solo

I primarily referred to this excellent post in creating his costume. I also extensively read several forums on the Rebel Legion site. It is a worldwide Star Wars costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans.

His pants are Dickies navy work pants. The side embellishment stripes were found on eBay. The belt, holster and gun were sourced on Amazon.

The boots were originally used by Gaston in our Beauty and the Beast costumes you can see HERE.

I love how this image really shows off the fabulous backdrop Mike and Michele created with foam board, metal vents, rope lighting and spray paint.

Wise Obi-Wan Kenobi

Michele had originally bought the Julie-Chantal pattern and raw silk fabric to make Mike the Wise Obi-Wan Kenobi. Then they decided he would be the younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

When Michele offered up the materials for Mr. Decor to use I jumped at the chance.

Mr. Decor went all in and grew out his beard.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

A Generic Jedi

I wanted to simply be a generic Jedi to really let Wise Obi-Wan shine this year.

My blue under tunic was made with Butterick B6748, view D.

The over tunic was created partially by using Simplicity 5840, view C. I then just added a gathered rectangle to the front and back to soften the look.

Grandma Mary’s circa 1960s gold jewelry is the perfect finishing touch.

A generic Jedi.

Many thanks to my dear friend Dartanyan who loaned us her light sabers.

If you’ve stuck around until the end The Force certainly must have been with you!
