Hello dear friends! Welcome to the July edition of Lifestyle of Love hosted by Cindy of County Road 407. I am so excited about this month’s theme of incorporating Basket and Crate Decor Ideas into your home. Baskets and crates are used abundantly to decorate as well as to organize our home, Storybook Cottage. I am hoping to gain fresh new ideas from all the wonderfully creative participants.
Basket and Crate Decor Ideas
If you are coming over from The Painted Hinge may I say “Welcome!” Michelle has such wonderful ideas.
Over the years I have written well over 100 posts that include baskets and crates. Back in 2009, I wrote a post on how to create your own typography basket. I am actually in the process of refreshing our guest room and this same basket was included in the room. Now that is good design!
Anyone else wishing for cooler weather? Autumn will be here before we know it. A wonderful post includes dozens of ideas for Fantastic fall decor.
In the formal dining area, I use baskets within the sideboard to organize napkins and more. You can view the transformation step by step.
The closet under the staircase was transformed into an excellent storage space through the use of shelves and baskets.
My most recent organization involving baskets was my new sewing and crafting space.
Hands down my very favorite use of a basket involved a sweet baby Blue Jay. You can view the story HERE.
The Great Crate
Back in 2017, a tornado came for a visit. It took off a section of our roof and also destroyed a section of our backyard fence. Taking lemons and making lemonade Mr. Decor used the rustic fence boards and created dozens of wooden crates in various sizes. This glorious fall arrangement was done three years ago.
I have also done similar stacked arrangements for other clients in spring colors and Christmas palettes. They are truly wonderful in creating tablescapes.
Tiny crates were used to create holiday gifts of paperwhites for our friends and neighbors.
The crates were most recently showcased at Sweet Guy’s Eagle Scout Party.
They worked beautifully within the rustic decor we were seeking.
The crates also helped to keep the buffet area organized.
One thing is certain, you can expect more basket and crate decor to adore in the future.
Up next is the creative Paula from Sweet Pea.

So many beautiful ways to use baskets and crates, Laura! I love how organized your craft room is and how you gifted paperwhites to your friends and neighbors. They’re always so pretty! Loved your Fall mantel too. It’s crazy hot and humid in Florida right now so I’ll take all the Fall inspo I can get 🙂 Hugs for a happy weekend, CoCo

So many great ideas! I love the crates that your husband made using tornado destroyed fencing. The small size is perfect for a gift or to use for decorating. As I was reading your post, my cousin happens to be visiting whose grandmother’s sewing patterns were sent your way a few years ago. My cousin didn’t know that I had given some of her grandmother’s patterns to you and she was delighted that I had. Congrats to your Eagle Scout! What an accomplishment!

Great uses of baskets and crates Laura! I just love your sewing room organization, and the crates you used as part of the Scout’s party. Also love those vintage books too. The paperwhites in the crates are so rustic and perfect for winter.
Your vintage typography basket is beautiful! I have been wanting to stencil numbers on some of my baskets, and now I am inspired.
So fun hopping with you!
