ORC Week 4 Are We All On Board With A Blue Leather Couch? As with most rooms, there is always one item that is a bit risky. Either financially or aesthetically. In the case of the couch destined for our family tv room, it is both. The sofa is a Chesterfield style which is as classic as can be. The risk is that it is navy blue leather. I pulled the trigger on this beauty so that it would arrive in time for the One Room Challenge reveal. Mr. Décor and the kids both love it. But the question is do ... View the Post
A Halloween Collection
Today our furniture is set to arrive to Storybook Cottage. There is still quite of bit of work to be done, but as in most houses we will continue to chip away at our “to do” list while actually living in the home. I know it will take me a week or two to unpack all of the boxes. Our neighbors have decorated their homes for fall in such a festive manner. I can’t wait to share all their darling porches with you. That is as soon as I find the battery charger for my camera. :) So while I take a ... View the Post

HELP! There is an Elephant err Fireplace in the Room
Right when you walk into our new home you are greeted with a large brick fireplace. In fact it is one of the largest fireplaces that I have ever seen. I am going to tell you right now that Mr. Décor LOVES this fireplace. I am on the fence about it. Actually, I have been trying my best to ignore it. The room is SO dark that for me the first issue has been to paint the walls of the room. That will be happening later this week. Bye bye boring, cave like brown. I imagine that once there is ... Five Years
Earlier this week, as I painted my son's bedroom, I had a one-sided discussion with my mother, Karen. It was October 8th ~ what would have been her 67th birthday. I told her how I had dropped her grandson off at school then stopped by a bakery and ate a cherry turnover alone in her memory. There were no candles, only a warm heart burning brightly for her. Five Years. In a quiet house, I applied deep aqua to the walls and wondered what had been her favorite color. It is one of the hundreds of ... View the Post
One Room Challenge Week 2
This past week has just flown by while working on the One Room Challenge Week 2. It’s been a bit exhausting. First up a bit of demolition occurred. I know a few of you were saddened by the fact that I removed the wine rack from the bathroom. :) Here’s a “BEFORE” picture for posterity. One Room Challenge Week 2 I also pulled down not one, but two wallpaper borders. Next, the built-ins in the family room received a bit of wood filler in some spots followed by sanding them smooth in ... View the Post
