Welcome to the Storybook Cottage early fall home tour 2017. I am so happy to be participating in the weeklong Fall Home Tours hosted by my dear friend Marty from A Stroll Thru Life. If you are stopping by after visiting Sarah's gorgeous home at Life On Virginia Street I want to say that I am so glad that you are here. Linen Pillow Shams Made from Scraps
During the recent rains, I spent a good deal of time in my upstairs attic hideaway where my sewing machine is kept. The most recent project is a set of linen pillow shams made from scraps. The project began due to another project that I have been slowly working on. I am creating a quilt for Sweet Guy made from tiny dime size pieces. These lovely bits of bliss were hand sewn together almost 100 years ago by my great grandmother. I have spent several afternoons repairing the delicate ... View the Post
The Iconic Scalamandré Leopardo Pillow and My $5 Knockoff
There has been a certain silk velvet fabric that I have adored for as long as I can remember. However, it is priced anywhere between $200 and $500 a yard. A price well beyond my budget. But late last week my leopard loving heart rejoiced at finding a similar fabric in a close out section and I now have a pretty budget version of The Iconic Scalamandré Leopardo Pillow and My $5 Knockoff. My love affair with Scalamandré "Leopardo" silk velvet began years ago when I spotted this chair within ... View the Post
Neutral Bedroom Ideas For Fall

The key to successfully using neutrals in a space is to use layers in various shades and textures. You also have to consider the message you want to convey. ... View the Post
Late Summer Cabinet of Curiosities
This summer has been one of the wettest on record. Living under a constant rain cloud, it has felt more like Seattle or London rather than D/FW. This has made photography quite the challenge, and so much of my summer decorating has gone undocumented here on the blog. I am now in the midst of transitioning the summer-themed accessories at Storybook Cottage to those that feel more like early fall. But since many of you had asked, I decided to share an overcast view of the Late Summer Cabinet of ... View the Post
How To Organize Home Decor Accessories
A week of overcast skies and daily thunderstorms has kept me close to home this week. I have been attacking long neglected closets with a vengeance. In the past, several readers have asked how I store all of my various home decor accessories. My answer was "a little here and a little there" and this was not a great solution. I thought about how various shops I really loved displayed their wares and came up with my own solution on how to organize home decor accessories. How To Organize Home ... View the Post
