While we were in California our dear friend took the opportunity to find us a bit of fall. A visit to Roger’s Garden’s, in Corona Del Mar, did not disappoint. There were acres and acres of the prettiest outdoor displays I have ever encountered. Bubbling fountains… …glorious flora and fauna…. … as well as a clear blue sky left me feeling very peaceful as we strolled the pea graveled walkways. But boil, boil, toil and trouble lurked around the corner in Blackstone Theater. ... View the Post
Guten Tag~
I don’t have many professional photographs of Sweet Boy as a baby and small child. It’s not that I didn’t want any. Because believe me when I say, “Momma tried”. He just HATED having his picture taken. He could be smiling and happy, but if a camera was brought out ~ smiles would instantly turned to tears. Luckily, he was unaware that the precious image of him below was captured by his Uncle A.J. (Old school scan = poor quality, my apologies.) The other day I was cleaning his room when I ... Decorating Around Drapes I Hate
Do you have a big ugly decorating elephant that lives in your house? For me it’s the drapes in our family room. Long mustard drapes. Ugh. Since I have to live with the horror awhile longer I decided to try and pull the focus away from the drapes to other, prettier things in the room. Now, there isn’t a big reveal at the moment. I am a one woman show and these things take time. But, I am making progress on the room and thought I would share what I have done so far. I found my inspiration ... View the Post
It’s A Dogs Life Slipcover
It’s no secret that I am head over tails in love with my dachshund Rudi. Of course everyone who meets him seems to fall under his spell too. Rudi likes to be in close proximity to wherever we are. He has a bed in the corner of the family room which is in the midst of being redecorated due to the hated mustard yellow drapes. I am working on a few new slipcovers for the room and thought his bed could use an update too. I selected three antique French linen tea towels, that were well worn ... View the Post
A Memory Keeper’s Daughter
I grew up in a modest brick ranch house built in the early 60’s that was purchased new by my family. For over 40 years very little was removed or changed. As other cherished family members passed on, my mom and dad collected sweet bits and pieces of their lives and added them to their own. Little bits of beauty could be found in the yard… …in the trees… …growing in the garden… …and boy oh boy…in the closets, tucked in chests and dressers, behind hutches, under the beds, in the ... Meandering Through A Mid Century Movie Set
I have been DYING to see “The Help” since it was released on August 12th. I finally went last weekend. Don’t you just love it when something not only lives up to your expectations but exceeds it? Of course, the Fashionista wanted to see the movie for the costuming (which is indeed TO DIE FOR) and I, of course, was eager to view the set décor. It did not disappoint. Aibilene’s kitchen was as simple, sparse and clean as it is portrayed in the book. So we will go Meandering Through A Mid Century ... View the Post
