Just Keep Twisting Hay

Today marks my 56th trip around the sun. In many ways, this has been the best year of my life. But it also has definitely been the absolute worst. I have written this all down for my kids  But perhaps it can also offer hope for others. To inspire them to keep going. Never give up. Just Keep Twisting Hay. The Long Hot Summer Last August marked three months without rain. Despite daily watering around the foundation of our home the clay soil had started to shift the foundation at ... View the Post

Purple Tea at the Dallas Arboretum

Hello sweet friends! It's been a minute since I have posted. I've been dealing with some pretty major housing renovation woes that are still ongoing. But, it's time to bring on the pretty! The Fashionista and I recently attended the Purple Tea at the Dallas Arboretum.  This tea was organized by the Dallas Fort Worth Costumers Guild.  Purple Prairie Chic This lovely tea is an annual event that I look forward to. A Country Girls Coat

Earlier this week I put the final stitch into the hem of A Country Girls Coat. It was made for the Fashionista.  If the coat looks somewhat familiar to you that is because it is a companion coat to my Coat Of Many Colors.  This coat is for the Fashionista. We both smile in that we are still donning mommie and me looks.  A Country Girls Coat I found that I wore my patchwork prairie coat quite a bit during the three day event in Simi Valley.  Often when I ... Friday Favorites Prairie Moments

Hello sweet friends, I hope you had a wonderful week. Yesterday, Mr. Decor and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary. I shared a sweet story about that day on Instagram.  In keeping with tradition we had a very understated celebration at home. I gathered up some vintage linens, a few pieces of my great-grandmother's Bavarian china and snipped a few blooms from the garden. It was so simple but brought such joy to our hearts that I'm sharing Friday Favorites Prairie Moments. Friday ... View the Post

A Coat Of Many Colors

Hello sweet friends. It has been quite a long time since I have written a Fashion Friday post. As many of you know it is not that I haven't been sewing. Quite the opposite. I have spent the past 2 1/2 months creating over 40 exterior pieces and several undergarments for a Little House costume collection. It will go on display next week in Los Angeles at the Little House 50th Anniversary Festival. I had hoped to make myself several new pieces to wear at the festival but this incredible project ... Happy Hearts Little House On The Prairie Costumes

Hello sweet friends! As a child and young teen, I learned a lot about love from Little House On The Prairie. Here's to Happy Hearts Little House On The Prairie Costumes.  Happy Hearts Both Ma and Harriet often showed us the enduring strength of maternal love in very different ways.     I cherish my own two children and am blessed beyond measure by their love and support of their kooky costuming mom.   Alyssabeth Ingalls Sherman     Ian Charles ...
