The Promise Of The Peony

The Promise Of The Peony

I adore the peony. Its pretty colors, delightful fragrance, and billowing blossoms make my heart happy. The Promise Of The Peony. I first became aware of peonies while shopping in the markets of France. Like so many of you I was instantly smitten. I dreamed of having peonies in my garden. You may know that peonies can be a bit finicky. Peony tubers like a shallow planting in well-drained soil. Peonies like the sun but only in a cooler climate ~ which means they do best in ... What’s Brightening My Day Right Now Vol. II

Right now I am focusing on being thankful for even the littlest of things. Here’s What’s Brightening My Day Right Now Vol. II. My dear friend Nicola sent me three lovely old glass molds. While I will eventually use them for their intended purpose, for now, they make a pretty vignette that helps keep our cut organic dill fresh.   What’s Brightening My Day Right Now Vol. II Nicola and her husband Patrick were dear mates of Mr. Decor’s while he was stationed in England. Beautiful Butchart Gardens and the Sooke Salmon

This post covers Beautiful Butchart Gardens and the Sooke Salmon. Visiting the glorious Butchart Gardens has been on my travel bucket list for over ten years. Nine Gables

When I recently traveled to California I spent a few days in the Gold Country. I stayed at Nine Gables. Plymouth The visit was specifically to the area of Plymouth a small town founded during the gold rush years. It has a main street of buildings that feature various lovely patinas. Many of structures have been revitalized. This gem still awaits such a transformation. Nine Gables Afterward, I loved entering the gates at the Nine Gables Winery. There is a tasting room as ... The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum

Visiting the Getty Museum had been on my bucket list for many years. I finally realized the dream while recently traveling to California. An extra treat was The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum. The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum The descending path leading to the central garden crosses back and forth over a stream. The walkway also winds through various succulents gardens. I didn’t realize succulents could do so well in partially shaded areas and hope to now plant my own at ... View the Post

Gypsy Caravans, Shepherd Huts and Tin Tabernacles

We have had several weeks of continual thunderstorms in my neck of the woods. It’s a bit frustrating as overcast skies do not make fine friends when trying to shoot design photography. But I don’t want to dwell on the lack of sun. So I thought I would share images from an article I recently found about outdoor garden rooms. Gypsy Caravans, Shepherd Huts, and Tin Tabernacles.  The article included traditional greenhouse and conservatory type spaces that England is famous for. But it was a ... View the Post
