Welcome to the Spring DIY & Craft Round-Up party hosted by Barbara of French Ethereal. I can remember the exact moment I first thought an edible kitchen garden would be a good idea. It was in a dark movie theater while watching Nancy Meyer's It's Complicated. At the time I was living in the land of eternal plant death. (Sorry, not sorry, Arizona.) So the idea fizzled in my mind like a flower in August. Creating arable land came into my mind last week when I was once again standing in a ... View the Post
How Does Your Garden Grow
Hello sweet friends! I am thinking of everyone and wishing you all well. Sweet Guy is home from school and we have been working on several projects. After a week of overcast skies and rain, it was time to get outside. How Does Your Garden Grow? How Does Your Garden Grow? I think many people are struggling right now. While I am committed to focusing on the positive I will admit that I was pretty low earlier this week. I felt sorrow with my son possibly missing all of his Senior year ... View the Post
Sunday Smiles The Repair Shop

Malmaison, The Tuileries And My French Front Door
Hello, mes amis (my friends)! In my quest to bring a bit of French flair to my home this Valentine's Day I have decorated the front entry of Storybook Cottage. It was also the headquarters of the French government from 1800 to 1802 as well as Napoleon's last residence in France at the end of the Hundred Days in 1815. Joséphine ... View the Post
A Chemise a la Reine For A Georgian Picnic
Hello sweet friends! Welcome to another edition of Historic Fashion Fridays! I recently made and wore A Chemise a la Reine For A Georgian Picnic. Last Saturday several members of the D/FW Costumers Guild gathered together for our annual Georgian Picnic. Members often make and wear historical fashion styles from the Georgian Era. The era occurred between 1714 to 1830–37. It gets its name after the Hanoverian kings George I, George II, George III, and George IV. A sub-period is the Regency ... View the Post
A Low Maintenance Fall Garden
Recently it became very clear that things had to change at Storybook Cottage. A Low Maintenance Fall Garden was desperately needed! Thankfully my dear friend Amber of Follow The Yellow Brick Home gave some much-needed incentive to get things done by inviting me to join the Embracing Fall Home Tours. If you are coming over from Common Ground let me say that I am so glad that you are here! Debra's fall garden is truly lovely. Fall On The Front Porch Since I had recently shared our ...
