Christmas Soldiers A Family Craft

When I was a little girl our family Christmas tree had dozens of felt soldiers hanging from the branches. My mom had made the sweet soldiers of felt and tp rolls. Here is an image which includes my pigtailed head. Yes, you can tell by the car parked outside, it was the 70’s. This post will share how to make Christmas Soldiers A Family Craft. Several years later we were horrified to discover that a family of mice had torn our soldiers to tiny bits. Many of you know that my sweet and crafty ... View the Post

Shake Up The Happiness It’s Christmas time

It’s day 2 of Christmas vacation. This was my wake up call. Shake Up The Happiness It’s Christmas time  Shake Up The Happiness It’s Christmas time And yes, our entire family consists of singing and dancing maniacs, which is why Rudi the dachshund kept right on sleeping. If you haven’t seen Train’s video of “Shake Up Christmas”, which inspired this season's popular Coke commercials, take a peek. You may just smile and possibly get up and dance. The Santa Key

Many parents are faced with the situation of having no chimney. This can be a cause of great concern for a child. There are several lines in the famous poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clark Moore that reference a chimney. The most prominent is: “Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.” If you ask any child over the age of 3 how Santa arrives 99% will respond “The Chimney”. If you are like me and live in a home with no fireplace there is a very sweet alternative. The ... View the Post

A Christmas Makeover

I am writing this post one day after my last exhausting college final. Inside my home, except for a half-finished tree and a small advent calendar, you would not know that it was Christmas. There is no wreath on my front door. There is not a single garland draped anywhere. Do I need A Christmas Makeover? I am a gal who, in the past, has decorated even her bathrooms. Given that I write a blog that is primarily about making a home pretty, you can assume that yes, this is unusual for me. A ... View the Post

Finding Christmas

It was difficult Finding Christmas this year. I didn’t put up one scarecrow at Halloween. My pair of well-worn pilgrims were not anywhere in our home at Thanksgiving. This is unusual for me. Friends and family members alike commented on the lack of my, generally abundant, holiday décor… and now, December beckons. With it the fear of a lack of Finding Christmas. As a rule, my gifts are bought and our Christmas cards are sent before the first week has passed. But this year felt different.  My ... View the Post

Happy Halloween from…

Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, aka The Fashionista on her way to work. Check out the rock star footwear! The dashingly handsome Zorro. Accompanied by a French artiste. Friday afternoon found me at the school giving a few little ghouls a craft lesson. Each child was given a pile of chenille stems, fuzzy pom-poms, sequins, and spiders. Their creativity was amazing. The children were then allowed to put on their costumes. Then line up for the annual costume parade. To leave ... View the Post
