Friday O’ Freebie

On the top of my places to visit wish list is Ireland. There are so many wonderful things that I would love to see there. Friday O' Freebie. I don't do much in the way of decorating for St. Patrick's Day given that some years Easter takes precedence. But this year I gathered up a few green bits and bobs and placed them on a tray. Starting on Monday I will begin a two-week salute to all things Irish. In the meantime let's celebrate my one year blogging anniversary with a wee ... View the Post

Love Lives In This House

I have always loved Valentine's Day. I believe that it is not just a day reserved for lovers, but for everyone with love in their heart. Even during my single years I would make plans to share a meal with other single friends, send a card to my widowed relatives and generally let those special people in my life know that they were (and are) loved. Love Lives In This House. This is the porch vignette that is currently greeting any visiting family or friends: Love Lives In This ... View the Post

Whats In Your Lunchbox

Today I embark on yet another semester of school. Last Thursday I invited a friend and classmate over for lunch to make sure that we were actually ready to inflict such torture upon ourselves once again. Whats In Your Lunchbox? Little Laura Ingalls (brunette with pink yarn bows) enjoying kindergarten lunch at Lincoln School. Whats In Your Lunchbox I met Karen last semester in my CAD (computer-aided drafting) class. We bonded due to the fact that we were: Two middle-aged women ... View the Post

Sewing Room Makeover

I recently received a business call from a woman who said she had rearranged her sewing room until she was blue in the face and still could not get it to look right. She said that she had a $300 budget and asked if I could I help. She needed a Sewing Room Makeover. Sewing Room Makeover At the consultation I immediately knew it would be a fun job, but very challenging. She had several knick-knacks that were very precious to her and they would all have to be incorporated in the room ... View the Post

Happy New Year Part 2

Should auld acquaintances be forgotten? I think not! I leave my Christmas decorations up until after January 6th. It likes to mingle with my New Year's Eve decor. Happy New Year Part 2. Happy New Year Part 2 January 6th marks the Epiphany~when the Magi arrived at the stable. (It is also the 12th day of Christmas, 12 Drummers Drumming...). Leaving up our Christmas decor is a very European way to celebrate, it also makes my German Lutheran Grandmother happy and helps to keep the January ... View the Post

Decorating with Children

Decorating with Children, it can be done, I promise! For our New Year's Eve table , enlisted Sweet Boy's help. He's seven and all boy, but oddly enough likes to help decorate. Trying to not include him could be disastrous on many levels. For the table I channeled my inner Frosty. Decorating with Children We began by creating a table runner made out of various doilies that I had on hand. They reminded me of snowflakes. I then added some tarnished sparkle in the form of unpolished ... View the Post
