Makeover Monday A Curvy Chair

I have a new chair. Oh, my goodness does it have nice curves. I want to keep her but alas she’ll be heading to California soon to strut her stuff in the Metis Linens booth at the Long Beach flea market. Makeover Monday A Curvy Chair. Makeover Monday A Curvy Chair She began as an unloved disaster on Craigslist. But I saw her potential. The chair had good lines and sat well. It was just covered in horrendously old green velvet and was a bit banged up. So, I took her apart. Saving ... View the Post

Top 2010 Projects

Welcome to the Décor To Adore Top 2010 Projects of the year. I have participated in Rhoda’s annual best of the best for three years now and it is such a fun trip down the DIY memory lane. As always I started out thinking “I don’t think I accomplished all that much”.  As I traveled back to the January posts and finished with December I soon remembered all of the projects found on the DTA blog in the past year. While red and green will always play a part in Christmas, I do love the unexpected freshness of red and turquoise paired together. Alternative Christmas Tabletop Ideas How about a punch of purple? I would call this table Rustic Elegance. The addition of a mustardy gold pairs well with ... View the Post

The Santa Key

Many parents are faced with the situation of having no chimney. This can be a cause of great concern for a child. There are several lines in the famous poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas” by Clement Clark Moore that reference a chimney. The most prominent is: “Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.” If you ask any child over the age of 3 how Santa arrives 99% will respond “The Chimney”. If you are like me and live in a home with no fireplace there is a very sweet alternative. The ... View the Post

Traditional Tabletop Ideas

I adore a well dressed Christmas tabletop. This post is full of Traditional Tabletop Ideas. Traditional Tabletop Ideas  I imagine that people have been dressing their tables for this festive occasion for centuries. This Victorian era table made me smile. I have been collecting images to inspire my own holiday table and I thought I would share a few of my favorite ideas and how you can recreate them in your own home. The table below not only could be recreated as a low-cost ... View the Post
