The Fashionista’s Wonderland

We bought a two-bedroom condo near ASU in August. The Fashionista now lives in it and we hope the second bedroom will soon hold a roommate. It was a foreclosure that had sat empty for 8 months and it had been a rental property before that. So in one word it was: DIRTY! With a little elbow grease and creative decorating it has turned into a pretty cute casita. When I think about what my own first apartment looked like, (couch pulled from the dumpster, tiny black and white tv set on an overturned ... View the Post

Rick Rack Attack

A few weeks ago I wrote a post on a few projects I created with vintage rick rack and seam binding. The madness continues. Rick Rack Attack. I have continued working on the Fashionista's apartment. We had an extremely low budget (think: none) to decorate the space. It has two sets of windows in the living and dining areas. When I found this stack of linen Pottery Barn drapes at Goodwill it was like discovering gold. Rick Rack Attack I transformed the beige color with a few bottles of ... View the Post

A new bathroom for $40.00

A few of you may remember the front bathroom when the Fashionista lived at home. It was very girly. Since she moved out I decided it was time to sandblast Sweet Boy out of our master bathroom and into his own space. I took color palette cues from his own room to link the spaces together as they are indeed across the hall from one another. A new bathroom for $40.00.  A new bathroom for $40.00 Living my mantra of "low budget/use what you have" I was thankful for bloggy friends. Inspiration ... View the Post

How Anthro is lovely

The Fashionista has finished her summer internship. It resulted in a job with a sister store.Woohoo! I have to be the proud mom and show you a few of her efforts. Although I must apologize for the quality of the photos. I think it has something to do with the model featured in this shot. How Anthro is lovely. How Anthro is lovely Why do I think it is this particular person? He left evidence that he used mom's camera and now the camera is not working properly. Hmmm. Ok, back to the first ... View the Post

What a girl leaves behind

I struggle a bit bringing the three paint cans into the now empty space. They are filled to the brim with Rhapsody Lilac. I wonder for a moment if. I have selected this shade as much for the name as the color. A melodious song of aromatic sweetness. Yes,  that is what I want in my life right now. What a girl leaves behind. What a girl leaves behind A fourth can contains “Marshmallow”, a slightly pinkish cream that will cover the inside of the closet and all of the trim. She liked the sound ... View the Post

Pillowcase Parade

I recently had my sewing machine out for another project and had been digging through my huge chest of vintage fabric. I came across several things that I decided I would finally finish. The first project consisted of a vintage pillowcase material. In the past, you could purchase this material that came on a roll. It was somewhat like a tube and the shopkeeper would just cut off the desired length to suit the individual. I had a few of these cases. Pillowcase Parade. Pillowcase Parade One ... View the Post
