Favorite Men of the Getty

ey So many of you loved the Favorite Ladies of the Getty and inquired if there were any favorite gentlemen. I aim to please so here is Favorite Men of the Getty. This is The Ransom by John Everett Millais, circa 1860-1862. Millais is one of my favorites of the Pre- Raphaelite painters. Favorite Men of the Getty I adore the fact that Millais’ mother created the costumes for his models to wear. Even down to the sweet velvet slippers. (Don’t overlook the glistening ribbon created with a ... View the Post

The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum

Visiting the Getty Museum had been on my bucket list for many years. I finally realized the dream while recently traveling to California. An extra treat was The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum. The Gorgeous Garden at the Getty Museum The descending path leading to the central garden crosses back and forth over a stream. The walkway also winds through various succulents gardens. I didn’t realize succulents could do so well in partially shaded areas and hope to now plant my own at ... View the Post

Palm Beach socialite Jim Kimberly, his wife, and friends with his white sports car and white boats moored on Lake Worth, 1968, Slim Aarons. Palm Beach Style To understand how the Palm Beach Style first developed one must travel back in time. The first settlers arrived in the Palm Beach Florida area, then known as Lake Worth, in 1872.  It was established as a resort area in 1893/94 by ... View the Post

Fashioning A Reign 90 Years of Style From the Queen’s Wardrobe

It has been ages since I’ve written a Royal themed post. Several of you have inquired if I was still going to write them. So here is Fashioning A Reign 90 Years of Style From the Queen’s Wardrobe. I did cover the Queen’s 9oth birthday on both Instagram and Facebook. But I will try to be better about posts here. The Royal themed posts always require a great deal of historical research. Such research requires an investment of time that I don’t seem to have as I enter into my last year in ... View the Post

The Homes of Laura Ingalls Wilder

Hello dear friends! Recently a picture has been circulating of the author Laura Ingalls Wilder which many of you have sent to me. It truly is a charming photograph. I decided to write a post with all of the homes of Laura Ingalls Wilder listed. The photo below is indeed Laura. She is standing on the porch of the Mansfield home that was first rented, then purchased, by Almanzo’s parents. They lived here while saving money to build what would become Rocky Ridge Farm. The house still stands ... View the Post
