Hello and welcome to the Storybook Cottage Swinging 60s Holiday Home Tour. I am participating in this lovely holiday hop organized by my friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. If you are coming over from Making It In The Mountains I am so glad that you are here. Wasn’t Kristi’s home so cozy?
Swinging 60s Holiday Home Tour
We are in the midst of preparing for a major kitchen and living room renovation so the decorations are simple and easy to move.
In the entry a silver tray, containing a sparkly dear and bottlebrush trees, can easily be whisked away if the need arises.
Our color palette this year, featuring turquoise and pink, was inspired by the Swinging 60’s.
The all white tree features vintage garland and Shiny Brite ornaments.
Most belonged to our grandparents and truly cherished. Although there are a few modern reproductions.
I made the embellished sequined felt tree skirt back in 2016.
I’m currently working on a new one for the Fashionista. I forgot how much time they take. HA!
I adore how Santa sparkles and shines!
The green hutch contains a variety of delights. It includes more vintage garlands, ornaments and some of the Putz houses I have made.
The Pine Cone Carolers delight my heart.
You can find the fun DIY craft HERE.
This sweet Mid-Century Nativity scene belonged to my Grandma Mary and Papa Jack.
The bar cart is ready to put some Fa La La La into the holiday season. I love how the mantel is reflected in the mirror.
The Mantel
I had hoped to have the brick hearth and surround painted white by Christmas. Like everything else with our current kitchen renovations paint is in short supply/backordered. Fingers crossed for early New Years!
So it’s also decorated simply with more retro inspired holiday decor.
You can find the craft DIY to make your own candles HERE.
The Dining Area
The dining area also features a turquoise and pink color scheme with accents of gold and white.
This tablescape makes me smile!
The doxie ears hide a sweet secret. You can see a short reel of the interactive table runner HERE.
The Bedroom
The master bedroom is also decorated simply.
You can see additional photos of the bedroom and how to make the easy Fun Felt Garland HERE.
The Sunroom
In the sunroom I have set up a Little House inspired Christmas scene.
It serves as the backdrop for the current Lessons With Laura holiday story time mini series on YouTube.
The next story time will be this Sunday.
You can view part one HERE.
I hope you have a peaceful holiday season!
Up next is Pink Peppermint Design. You will love Tammy’s home decorating ideas!

Laura, this s simply enchanting. It’s like walking into a magical world with the beautiful colors and whimsical features, like your darling table runner, the “candles” and your garlands (snowmen on the stairs, pretty pastel leaves!). The white tree is about as perfect as a tree can get and I love your shiny brites and the fact that you have these wonderful ornaments from generations before. it’s lovely!
Laura Ingalls Gunn says
Oh Jeanie your lovely comment has brought me such joy!

Your home looks so pretty all decorated in the bright and shiny pinks and aquas for the holidays. It is so light and airy looking. I can almost hear the fun 60s Christmas tunes playing on a record player in the background.
But it is so sweet how you kept the traditional red and green for a quiet corner as well. A cozy calm place to settle in with a good Christmas book (or a nap)
You are all ready for the holidays. Thank you so much for sharing!
Hope you are all enjoying the holidays and staying safe. <3
Laura Ingalls Gunn says

You really hit it out of the park with this one, Laura! The vintage is always terrific, but the retro takes a lot of creativity! Love your tree and as always Shiny Bright ornaments are treasures!

I love those pinecone carolers and DIY candles so much! The white Christmas tree is beautiful with vintage ornaments. Good luck with your renovations this holiday! Also, would love to meet you sometime Laura!

I never knew the 60’s could be so adorable! The colors, the candles, the pinecone soloists, the hidden diamond collars on the blue Gracie’s – it’s all fantastic! I even love the little angels. It’s funny to me that our consumer angels are always small and dainty. When I picture Angels in my head they are huge and super strong. Looking forward to one day seeing a real one! Merry Christmas sweet friend. Hope we can get together soon.
