Today I am sharing a Travel Themed Guest Bedroom as part of the Inviting Summer Bedrooms hop hosted by the lovely Miss Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. If you are coming from Hymns & Verses may I say Welcome! I absolutely adore Doreen’s fabulous style.
Travel Themed Guest Bedroom
This room used to belong to Sweet Guy. We recently moved his bedroom upstairs. As he will be soon leaving for college our thought process was that we could shut off the upstairs while he is living in the dorms. The additional privacy his new upstairs room brings is appreciated when he is home. (We’re still working on the decor and I will probably share his new space in the fall.)
I decided to keep the soft aqua walls and some of the former decor. A travel theme seems very fitting for a guestroom.
In the summer months, I like to use cool linen and cotton bedding. A simple ticking pillow and a fun travel-themed pillow can provide guests additional support if they need it.
Antique linens collected while living in Germany allow me to dress the bed in beautifully embroidered sheets and pillowcases.
The goal in decorating the space was not to purchase anything new. The room is simply furnished with a bed, an almost empty dresser, and two nightstands.
There’s ample space on either side of the dresser to store suitcases as well as some hooks for hanging up bags and coats.
Comfort Is Key
The framed printable contains information on where to find extra blankets and towels (bottom drawer). There are also instructions on how to use the portable heater as well as the WiFi password.
The silver tray holds a drinking glass and a few chocolates. A humorous vintage hotel sign can be placed on the door.
To the left of the bed, the nightstand is made from a luggage rack updated back in 2010 and a vintage suitcase that belonged to my grandparents. My grandma Mary was a travel agent back in the 1960s. I come by my love of travel honestly.
The Greek Key trimmed curtains were made back in 2013. Classic design never goes out of style!
Across from the bed are the shelves Mr. Decor made and installed in 2017. The globes and various book titles, such as Treasure Island, continue the globetrotting theme.
Guests seem to appreciate having a place for their computer as well as a visible open outlet to plug in their devices.
All of the small thoughtful touches work together to create a comfortable Travel Themed Guest Bedroom.
Up next is Anita from Far Above Rubies. You will love her colorful bedroom.

What a great guest-room. Anyone would be lucky to spend the night there. In one of our homes I had a travel related room, too, and loved it. It was like an escape and once in a while I slept in there myself. lol
Hope you have a great day- xo Diana

I love all your beautiful antique linens, some fabulous treasures. It’s wonderful the way you’ve thought of everything for your guests, the work station is a great idea to add. Love the travel theme and that huge map is perfect. Thanks so much for joining the summer tours.

Your guest room is set for visitors to be relaxed. If only the virus didn’t happen.
Ticking stripe is great to have ut mixes so well with different fabrics.
Your linens from Germany are very pretty.
Enjoy!

What a fun guestroom, Laura!! I really like how you dress up the bed with vintage linens including some cut-work. What are the two little pointy hat figures on the shelf? They remind me of a teething toy my Aunt Martha has from her childhood. Hugs!

Hi Laura,
You nailed it in the thoughtful comforts for your guests. Chocolates for the win!!
I absolutely love that antique mirrored wash stand chest of drawers! It is stunning!
And your light blue lamps and touches of Battenburg lace – great touches.
If it were yet safe to travel I think I’d be heading your way right now! : – )

Well, every blogger in the world is going to want an invitation to stay at your house! That’s delightful — so cool and breezy, very fun and creative. Very well thought out. I love the shelving unit, too. That’s a great idea!

Laura, I was always a little sad when my kids went back to college. And would find myself in their bedrooms just because I felt closer to them there. I love that you have turned your Sweet Guy’s bedroom into a fun themed guest room. The vintage furniture is delightful!!! I’d love to stay in this room for a visit!
