Friday Favorites Lovely September

Summer is still firmly in place here at Storybook Cottage. But there is a whisper of cooler days coming. Here’s to Friday Favorites Lovely September.

Friday Favorites Lovely September

Earlier this week I began switching out some of my decor and linens in the anticipation of autumn. Soft neutrals, such as the shades used in this lovely country house, seem to fit the bill.

The kitchen was designed using many elements from deVOL including their ‘Real Shaker cabinet range and ‘Crackle metro...

A Sweet Retreat

This is the time of year that I most have garden envy. The unending days of 100 degree heat combined with little to no rain and there is very little left living in our flower beds. But my dreams of gorgeous walkways combined with a pretty summerhouse still flourish in my soul.

Crumbly Good

A yummy fruit crumble is the perfect way to blend the last of the summer fruit with the coziness of fall oats.  I made this crumble earlier this week.

Note: The recipe needs super sweet fruit to shine. But it makes for a delicious breakfast, snack or dessert.

Forever Flowers

For those who want to capture the last of the pretty blooms of summer or the lovely hued leaves of early fall this simple craft does just that.

Just One Shelf

Sometimes we don’t need, or even want, an entire makeover. In this short video on Instagram I share the joy of organizing and decorating just one pantry shelf.

I will be taking a few days off next week to prepare for Wilder Days. I will be set up at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home Museum on September 25th and 26th. My goal is to sew several handcrafted goodies to sell as a fundraiser for the Society of the Ingalls Family.

thank you for sharing Laura…I have to admit I did love the kitchen in your first photos and the walls of the old school house. However I did not like too much of the rest of the home…tho that is just me. It seemed austere and cold. but to each his own….but I really like the kitchen and the curved double doors. I only wish my pantry could look like the one you pictured…but I am sure I would add a jar of red macaroni (do they even make such a thing?) that would throw off the whole design of neutrals. LOL Enjoy your Wilder Days…it sounds. like fun. Have a great September…Enjoy life.
