Friday Favorites Comfort and Peace

In every generation there is a day in which you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news. On September 11, 2001 my family and I were stationed in Germany and living in a small village. I was seven and 1/2 months pregnant. My husband was working on Ramstein Air Force Base and my daughter was attending school on base. The military base immediately shut down. I didn’t see my daughter and husband for almost 18 hours. Mr. Decor worked around the clock for weeks after. The stress of it all made me go into early labor and our son was born a month early. But my neighbors watched over us. Brought me meals, helped with childcare. Our little community came together and it was beautiful to witness. Here’s to Friday Favorites Comfort and Peace.

Plant A Peaceful Garden

Gardens of peace often begin with a white and green color palette. This post shares some wonderful ideas for creating your own haven.

What To Watch

National Geographic has created a moving 3 part series titled 9/11 Reunited in which survivors share their inspiring stories of courage, kindness and sacrifice. I watched it on Hulu.

I am traveling to California next week for work. Upon my return I will be headed to Mansfield, Missouri to attend Wilder Days on September 25th and 26th. Hope to see you at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Home Museum.

Thanks Laura for your somber reminder of a day we shall never forget. Yes, I remember where I was…working for Boeing and supporting American Airlines in Kansas City. You can imagine the feelings and awe as all airplanes were instructed to ‘sit down where you are’ and we had every airliner imaginable sitting out on the tarmac outside our office at the AA Maintenance Base. It was a double shock for me as I worked for Boeing, the manufacturer of all 4 of the airplanes and supported AA which accounted for Flights 11 and 77.
You have become quite the busy little bee these days…flitting from place to place. Thanks you sharing your beautiful creations with us and take care…Happy September!
