Hello Gentle Readers! This past weekend the Fashionista held A Bridgerton/Jane Austen Themed Bridal Shower for our darling Megan, Sweet Guy’s fiancée.

A Bridgerton/Jane Austen Themed Bridal Shower
Megan looked absolutely regal in her royal purple gown.

Her mom, Michele, made Megan’s dress as well as her own and Megan’s sister, Madison’s dress.

The event was held in a private room at a beautiful venue.

Place Settings and Games
Vintage china and yellow napkins (the brides favorite color) were laid out on the tables.

We wanted each guest to feel very special. Individual party favors such as lace fans, special tea in organza bags, and a decorated cookie were added to the settings.

The first game was also introduced.
At each place setting rings in various jewels tones were placed on the table along with instructions that if the forbidden word WEDDING was uttered by anyone another guest could ask for their ring. At the end of the shower the person with the most rings collected was announced as THE DIAMOND OF THE SEASON. A free printable is available below.

Sweets and Savories
The bride led the way to the buffet area which featured some of her favorite tea party selections.

The savory options included two types of quiche (one variety was vegetarian) cucumber sandwiches and mini caprese skewers.
The sweets featured were lemon blueberry scones, gluten free macarons and bridal rose cupcakes.

Guests were offered floral infused water, pink champage, as well as two types of tea. They included English breakfast and the brides favorite, peppermint.

Gift baskets and Games
After refreshments were served it was time to move on to another game.

Winners of the games were awarded gift baskets featuring two blue willow teacups, tea, silver serving pieces, doilies, candles, cookies and books by Jane Austen. Small prizes were awarded to the runner up and included a tea cup, handkerchief and tea.

The Dance Card Game (Programme du Bal) was the hit of the party. Each guest had a different task. They included things such as “Ask another guest if they would like to join you on the promenade of the room” and “Jump into portraits without being asked”. After completing the task they asked for a signiture on their dance card with a feather pin of course!

A Shower of Gifts
After the games the bride went to the front of the room to open her gifts.

She was joined by her ladies in waiting (co maid of honors) future sister in law, Lou, and sweet sister, Madison.
The bride was so excited!
Afterwards the guests lined up for a costume contest. It was hard to select a winner.

The Flower Bar
Near the end of the event all the guests were given a hand sewn reticule (purse) to collect their party favors and encouraged to visit the flower bar.
They selected a vase that featured a wax seal with the bride and grooms initials.

They could learn about the language of the flowers in the Regency era.

The guests loved selecting their favorites from all the beautiful blooms.

A Bridgerton Inspired Dress
Somehow I had not yet created a Bridgerton inspired gown, despite the fan frenzy.

I looked towards the fashions worn by Lady Danbury and Vicountess Violet Bridgerton.

The white gown was created a few years ago in a nod to Harriet from the 2020 movie Emma. You can read all the details and find the pattern information HERE.
The open robe pattern I have sewn before. You can get all the pattern details in the post A Peacock Themed Regency Dress.
I opted for a bright turquoise lace as the color is often featured in various hues on the show.

A sneak peek on my Instagram account revealed that I spent hours upon hours “fussy cutting” the lace away from the netting.

This was so that I could sew it on to the edge of the open robe as well as applique a section on to the tam/beret.

The lace fabric was also carefully positioned and cut out so that the design would be showcased down the center.

A matching reticule was also made. You can find a few of these in a similar design for sale in my Etsy shop.

A Pink Chemise à la Reine
The Fashionista wanted a dress inspired by Bridgerton’s Queen Charlotte and her ladies in waiting. Since it is the heat of summer she thought a Chemise à la Reine in pink cotton dotted Swiss would be a fun frock to wear.

I have made a traditional white Chemise à la Reine before. You can read about the history of the dress and find the pattern details in this post.
The long sash was made from hand dyed silk purchased from The Mad Anachronist.

The Fashionista wore 18th century underpinnings to include a split rump and petticoat.

It helps to boost a bountiful derrière.

The pink wig was found on Amazon. It was fluffed up and reshaped once it was received.

Two ostrich plumes were added along with some vintage flowers purchased from Timely Tresses. The bird came from the Dollar Tree.
I curled the ends of the feathers using a method I shared HERE.

Diamonds of the Season
The shower was a grand success judging by the bride to be’s beaming smile!

We will now begin to plan the Bachelor and Bachelorette parties that will all lead up to the big day in November.
