Friday Favorites A Shower of Happiness

These past few weeks have been a flurry of preparation for a very special occasion. Tomorrow, a bridal shower for Sweet Guy’s Gal is being held. As the Fashionista is the bride’s maid of honor everything has been meticulously selected. Almost every element has been handcrafted. I cannot wait to share all of the lovely details in an upcoming post. Here’s to Friday Favorites A Shower of Happiness.

Pembroke Lodge

In between the villages of Newlyn and Mousehole in west Cornwall sits a five bedroom Georgian house. Pembroke Lodge, the former home of painter Walter Langley, has now been renovated and full of charm.

A Savory Summer Meal

Shrimp are grilled to perfection, then doused in cilantro lime dressing, topped with corn and cotija cheese and wrapped in a butter lettuce and iceberg combgination. Served with some rice this dish makes for a wonderful meal.

Enchanted Wreath

I need to change the wreaths on my front and back door. They’ve been up since spring and are now fairly faded and covered with dust. However, I’m not quite ready for a fall wreath. This crescent shaped wreath, accented with dried blossoms, might just fit the bill.

A Lovely Lakeside Home

This gorgeous lakeside home is located in Columbus, Georgia.  The interiors, designed by Ashley Gilbreath, combine modern elements with antique touches beautifully.

All Things Martha

Now that all the planning for the shower is complete I am looking forward to some selfish sewing time. This next year will mark the 250th birthday of America. I plan to create a complete 1776  womens wardrobe. While my garments will be historically accurate I couldn’t help but pick up with fun vintage pattern at an estate sale recently.

Vintage Cakes

This next week I shall celebrate another yearly trip around the sun. When I was a little girl my grandparents would always get me a birthday cake from the long since closed Neldam’s bakery in Oakland, CA. In researching beautiful cakes I recently came across the Rose Vanilla Bakery in Virginia. Their vintage cakes are lovely little Roccco works of art.

My hope is that I will soon be back to a regular posting schedule in September. There is so much goodness that I want to share with you all.

Have a wonderful weekend.
