Friday Favorites Beat The Heat

We are entering the dog days of August (hot, sultry weather). I loved cool treats as a kid and cannot wait to try this recipe for Homemade Fudgesicles. Here’s to Friday Favorites Beat The Heat.

A Cotswold Cottage

This charming 17th-century cottage in village of Ramsden uses various soothing shades of green throughout the interiors.

Cereal Box Magic

While this DIY is geared toward children, wouldn’t you love to create a Cardboard Dollhouse from a Cereal Box? It’s charming enough to place in a craft space and fill it up with supplies. Perhaps scrapbook wallpaper could be added to the back of each shelf.

I’m still not turning on my oven very much these days. This Grilled Corn Salad with Pineapple & Cilantro is absolutely amazing with barbequed anything!

Restoring Lynnewood Hall

Lynnewood Hall in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania has a beguiling history and its downfall is linked to the Titanic. This glorious 110 room home was built during the Gilded Age by Horace Trumbauer. This gorgeous Neoclassical-revival estate is now undergoing a restoration and preservation.

Too Late To Garden?

Most gardeners are currently trying to maintain what has already been planted. However an agressive family of cute bunnies has moved into our backyard and all but destroyed our hostas and other plants so I am looking at what I can plant now. Sweet Guy is of course getting married in November and I would like a little color and foliage. I liked some of the ideas in THIS POST and will also be sowing Zinnia seeds this week.

Saying YES

Over on Instagram I am sharing an interesting challenge. If you have joined me for anything length of time here on the website then you may be well familiar with how much I love to pour out to others, elevate kindred spirits, and bring joy to many. But recently, after months and months of giving and non-stop travel, I have began to feel weary. I am sure I am not the first to become worn out in giving to others.
So, in the month of my birth, I am trying to do one kind thing for myself every day. That may seem silly to some people, but I know there are many who also walk this same path. Already I can feel the tiredness lifting. Sometimes it’s even just enjoying my lunch on a pretty plate.

I hope you will do one kind thing for yourself today.

Hugs,

Laura
