Valentine Shadowbox

Hello sweet friends!  Today I am joining some lovely creatives for our monthly Pinterest Challenge. It is hosted by the fabulous Cindy of County Road 407.  I am sharing a Valentine Shadowbox.

If you are coming over from Sonata Home let me say welcome to Storybook Cottage! Didn’t you love Missy’s 3D card?

The Inspiration

This month the challenge was to create a Valentine shadowbox. Our inspiration photo comes from Dorene’s Craft & Design Home Decor.

The pretty Valentine decor features:

  • A whitewashed frame
  • hearts
  • flowers
  • ribbon

Valentine Shadowbox

It is such fun to see that shadowboxes are back in style!

My first shadowbox was created way back in 2011. I learned the craft after attending a wonderful class hosted by my dear friend Meri.

My last set of shadowboxes were created in 2016 as a limited edition collection that raised money for Toys For Tots.

Valentine Shadowbox

We are currently on a spending freeze here at Storybook Cottage as funding is needed for a new heating system. (No fun!!!)

Luckily I have years of Valentine crafts that I can remake.

So I took grabbed an old shadowbox that has now started to lose many of its elements and took apart a button garland from 2013.

These pieces would be placed in the new shadowbox.

Then I used a top from one of the French Inspired Valentine Candy boxes from a few years ago that had gotten crushed.

A worn out glitter heart recieved a new bit of sparkly trim.

Hodge Podge Collage

I love a good collage because you really have to stop and look at all the elements.

It somehow works all together to delight my heart.

The shadowbox found it’s way into the kitchen as part of a happy vignette that I will share soon.

Up next is South House Designs. Diane creatively made a lovely heart from old frames!

May your heart be happy,

Laura

Wowza, you’ve made some gorgeous shadow boxes! I’ve never tried anything like that. I think my man hands wouldn’t allow me to even fool with such tiny specimens. Love your interpretation for the challenge. Seriously adorable! pinned

Laura I had almost forgotten about shadowboxes…thanks for the update and yours is beautiful. Now where is my macrame plant holder? Have a great day.
