Hello sweet friends! Today I am joining some lovely creatives for our monthly Pinterest Challenge. It is hosted by the fabulous friend Cindy of County Road 407. Today I am sharing Happy Golden Holiday Gift Wrap Ideas.
A Happy Golden Holiday Gift Wrap Ideas
If you are coming over from Cindy’s let me say welcome to Storybook Cottage! Didn’t you love her vintage inspired wrapping?
This holiday season everything that glitters is gold here at Storybook Cottage.
We are celebrating the 50th (golden) anniversary of Little House on the Prairie and our golden boy is graduating from college in just two weeks.
So let’s bring on the sparkle and shine!
In trying to reduce waste all of my gifts this year begin with some basic wrapping from recycled shopping bags.
I just love brown paper packages tied up in strings, don’t you?
Various scraps of crepe paper streamers were sewn and gathered together for some ruffled joy.
Small wooden stars recieved the glitter treatment on one side. The plain side allows for the recipients name to be written.
Two Gifts In One
I’ve been keeping an eye out for crocheted doilies at estate sales and thrifts shops.
I love the way they look like snowflakes when layered over the brown package.
Each person in our family is assigned a different color of ribbon. This makes for an easy delivery of gifts on Christmas morning.
Shopping Bag Stockings
This season we are invited to a few holiday gatherings. I always like to show up with a few gifts for the hostess.
These darling stockings are also made from recycled shopping bags.
They are so easy to make!
I show you step by step how to create them in this week’s video.
This Week’s Video
This week’s video also features how to create a gorgeous centerpiece with simple hedge and tree clippings as well as a reading of one of my favorite Chrismtas stories.
If you wish to view the video in a larger format just click on the black box in the lower left hand corner that says Watch on YouTube.
I’ll see you on Friday when I reveal this year’s mantel!

I just watched your video. I remember reading this chapter to my kids. It wasn’t winter. It actually was a very hot July evening. A storm that afternoon had knocked out power and I was reading under kerosene lamp light. Even my boys sat listening to me reading. It’s such a special chapter to me!! I am wondering how I can donate?

I love the doily over the brown craft, and the velvet ribbon adds another great texture; beautiful! I always pick a wrapping paper for each of my family members gifts, so yes, passing out can go smoothly. Also so I can keep track of how many I’ve got for each;)

Laura, your wrapping ideas are so pretty! The crape paper with the sparkly string is so gorgeous and of course I love the doilies! Thanks for the inspiration! Pinned!

These are super pretty, Laura! (And I bet if no one wants them, you’ll be reclaiming the lace and ribbons for future projects — or is that just something I would do!). It’s a great idea! I’ll have to check out the video!

You always have such great ideas and are so crafty. I love the bits of lace added to your packages and the stocking out of recycled shopping bags is such a great project. Happy Thanksgiving.
