Blue In The Summer Kitchen

Hello sweet friends! The temperatures have really started to rise here at Storybook Cottage. I love using cool colors during the warm months. I hope you enjoy Blue In The Summer Kitchen.

Blue In The Summer Kitchen

Back in March I had an opportunity to view a variety of wonderful products by Modern Prairie. One of the things I couldn’t resist from their 50 years of loving Laura series was the 50 Years on the Prairie tea towel in the blue colorway. It was a nice souvenier to remind me of a wonderful weekend.

( I in no way, shape, or form have been compensated for this post. I just want to share something I love.)

Back To The Prairie

My plans were to hang the towel in the hearth area of the summer kitchen.

The hearth

It inspired the various shades of blue that were used in the space.

All of the copper was given a good polish as well.

Other than the tea towel nothing new was purchased.

Blue In The Summer Kitchen

I simply pulled out various blue and white decorating options from my decor closet.

The blue and white ticking shade was made a few years ago.

Various pieces of blue and white pottery and transferware, collected over the years, dress up the antique shelf.

As I’ve said many times before, investing in good quality is always a good idea. Classic design never goes out of style. Case in point: I made the blue and white ticking napkins in 2010 and they are still going strong!

Clean and Serene

If the kitchen looks a bit sparse that is intentional.

There is currently a lot of chaos going on in other rooms. We spent the spring doing foundation and plumbling repairs and are now finally updating the warped wood flooring. So that means that our living and dining room furntiture is currently stacked in every other room.

I needed an area that is clean and serene!

I’ll be glad when I can finally begin decorating my 19th century inspired sewing area.

I’ll be back on Friday.

Laura

Your kitchen is perfect for every color created. Then when you mix blue with a little green, it’s even more lovely! Happy summer. Stay cool!

I do love that towel. Blue and white is a wonderful combo and perfect for summer, especially in your mostly-white kitchen. You have a wonderful collection.

Your stove top surround is lovely, Laura. It looks old world and modern at the same time. The touches of blue are so classic.
