This weekend is a national holiday in which the United States remembers the amazing heroes who have left us too soon. May their great courage and sacrifice light the way towards a more peaceful future. Here’s to Friday Favorites Memorial Day.
Friday Favorites Memorial Day
This patriotic tablescape set within a gorgeous greenhouse is truly charming.
Avocado Corn Tomato Salad with Creamy Cilantro-Lime Dressing
This salad truly is a complete meal in my mind. But it would pair beautifully with some barbequed chicken. I love all of the delicious colors.
Patriotic Decor
This sweet home is beautifully decorated for the Memorial Day holiday with some simple and sweet touches.
Cheesecake Salad
This recipe has neither lettuce or cream cheese but it does look delicious. I’m thinking a few good whirls in the blender will allow me to eat this as well. LOL
In Case You Missed It
These White Lace and Linen Flags remain a Pinterest favorite and are so easy to create.

Something Soft
This will be a quiet weekend here at Storybook Cottage as I continue to heal from a fall that resulted in a broken jaw and several broken teeth. Eating has been the biggest challenge as my jaw is wired shut. Most ready made liquid foods that are recommended are either dairy, gluten or soy based. I no longer consume these things as I follow the Auto Immune Protocol diet to help with my Lupus. Several lovely people sent me some wonderful recipes but I just didn’t have the energy to prepare them. Thankfully, the wires will be removed this Tuesday and replaced with a set of removable orthodontic rubber bands. I will need to consume soft foods for about two months. I’m currently dreaming of a deliscious egg bake. (I’ll substitute the whole milk with either coconut or almond milk.)
Thank you everyone for your good wishes!!!

Laura, Wishing you are great adventure next week and. health-wise, that you are able to enjoy some marvelous meals in Kansas. I was up at 4:30 this morning, to finish the signs for the towns’ annual GARAGE SALES DAY!
My garage is packed with the things that I thought were wonderful and didn’t include in the big sale after the shop closed. It should be a fun day and I’m looking forward to meeting some neighbors. I’m going to look at the recipe for the Cheesecake Salad. now. I need a recipe for a dessert for a birthday party in July. That would be healthier than ice cream, and something that would be cold and sweet-tasting with the fruit. Good! Hope everything goes great!

Laura, Every time, I leave a comment, I look at that picture and think, “I’ve got to change that picture.” That was taken 15 years ago.

I am so grateful that your family will be able to accompany you to Kansas, do the talking, the heavy lifting and just let you smile! I’d hate it if you had to miss this one. I know this has had to be a simply miserable time — so difficult to eat and hurting, too. I hope the healing is going well and soon you will be able to add a little more to your diet. Hang in there and good luck in Kansas!
