Hi Friends, I hope you all are well. I’ve had a bit of a rough week. Early Mother’s Day morning I fell and ended up with a broken jaw, 5 broken teeth, and stitches in my chin. So tongue in cheek, let’s celebrate with Friday Favorites Shades Of Purple. I’ll share more of what happened, including the MIRACLES, at the bottom of the post. But first, let’s bring on the inspiring and pretty!
Pretty Purple Sunroom
I love Aiken House & Gardens. This purple summer porch is just gorgeous! It would be so wonderful to spend some time relaxing here.
Purple Perennials
If you are looking to add some various varieties of purple hued blooms to your garden then this post is full of great ideas.
Time For Tea
There are over 20+ amazing teatime displays in this beautiful post. The purple place setting definitely caught my eye!
Collecting Purple Transferware
I love all the various shades of transferware that are available. I have full sets of red/pink, and brown. Purple is the most rare. You can read about Edith & Evelyn’s collection HERE.
In Case You Missed It
I once had a lovely lavender themed home tour that you might enjoy revisiting.
Friday Favorites Shades Of Purple
I am currently sitting here in various shades of purple from a fall I took around 2 am early Sunday (Mother’s Day). I had gotten up to go to the bathroom and took a 3 point tumble like a pinball machine. First hitting the door jamb which resulted in a broken right jaw. Then I fell forward hitting the cabinets on my left side resulting in bruising on my entire upper left side to include my first black eye. Lastly, I fell full force on the ground hitting my chin. This resulted in 5 stitches and 5 broken teeth.
I know it’s a lot and I will spare you the photos because it does look really awful.
Even Ponyboy feels my pain.
Let’s Talk About Miracles
However, I want to concentrate on sharing with you the MIRACLES that have occured.
First and foremost Sweet Guy was planning on coming for brunch on Sunday Morning for Mother’s Day. But the Holy Spirit told him to go ahead and leave his college apartment and come home sooner. He hadn’t been home long when he heard the crash. It was he who heard me and of course found me.
The Fashionsta was able to come and stay with me. She has truly been a fabulous nurse!
Lastly, the Oral Surgeon ER doctor on call, Dr. Pace, has been absolutely amazing!
We talked about treatment plans. My break is near the hinge of my uppper jaw so a plate was not an option. If we let it heal naturally it could fuse in the wrong place and then I would have TMJ issues for the rest of my life. The best option was to have my jaw wired shut.
I get my stitches removed today. My facial bruising is now turning from purple to yellow. The swelling should also subside this next week. I will have the jaw wires clipped on the 28th. Then I will have rubber bands for a fine tuning adjustment for another 2 weeks after that. But I will be fine and dandy to travel.
I will be back next week with more Friday Favorites and an update.
Thank you friends for your love and support!
Laura

Laura, God is in control and though we can’t see it…ALL things work together for good and this too shall pass. I do feel your pain as you know I went through Pancreatic cancer and God’s ways are not our ways and I am so happy you are seeing the miracles God is providing. When we think ” it is too late”……God whispers, “I still have a plan”
Hugs and Blessings dear friend.

Dear Laura,
Thank you for letting your friends know about this accident. This was three accidents in one . God certainly does move in mysterious ways to have moved your boy to come home early. This is a complicated-compound situation. That makes me so mad about the insurance company. What is wrong with people? I didn’t tell you that I had an attempted home invasion in January at 10:45 p.m. during an ice storm. The guy was going to steal my car. Laura, the charge was dropped to “Attempted Trespass.” They didn’t even tell me that he was released. I don’t know this man. But, anyway, we need a world where more district attorney offices and insurance companies attempt to put themselves in the other person’s shoes. God speed, Laura!
Rita C at Panoply says
Oh my word, Laura! I am so sorry for your accident. It truly sounds like God and your guardian angel were on call for this, given how it all fell into place with care and treatment. And Dr Pace is a Little House fan, to boot! If that’s not a Godwink……
I could tell from photos at the Little House celebration that you’d lost a lot of weight already. Do take care of yourself. You sure don’t need another Lupus flare-up. I’m really glad your prognosis is good on this fall. I hope the pain is minimal.
Big Hugs (well, air hugs since I know you feel the pain). Take care.
XO
ps I love all the purple, reminds me of my Mom. It was my mom’s signature color. She wore it all the time. I do have a set of French purple transferware luncheon plates, and I love them. I hadn’t seen Aiken House in a long time, so I was happy for that link today!

Prayers and thoughts are with you. Speedy recovery . Know you will bounce back as you always have many things to do.

Oh Laura,
I am so sorry you are going through all the pain and discomfort of a very complicated set of injuries. I too thank God that Ian was home and there to get you the help you needed. Dr. Pace and his staff sound absolutely wonderful and I hope the insurance people start acting like human beings. I well remember how I was treated by our insurance when I was getting all my replacements. It really does add insult to injury.
Your positive outlook will serve you well and I’m super glad you will be well enough to go to the Little House event.
Speedy recovering thoughts being sent your way.
Ann

Praise the Lord Ian came home early!!!!! Yes, a miracle for sure he was there to help and be with you after it happened. Sending you big love and prayers for comfort and a speedy recovery.
Nancy Brantley says
Oh my, what a fall…praise God that Ian came early. Miracles are real, I know!! Insurance???…we pay but are denied for getting care!!! Prayers and hugs for complete recovery.
Robyn Lieberman says
OMG… I haven’t been on line in weeks and am just playing catch up. Your determination to still share beauty with all of us is a level of kindness and caring so few share these days— but once again, OMG. I am so very sorry you are dealing with all of this. These injuries are more than enough to cope with, please take one day at a time. There were many hardships on the prairie—You need to focus on your own recovery for now.
Elizabeth@pineconesandacorns says
Laura, so many miracles indeed! Thank God you are ok and that your family was there and able to care for you. Praying for you.
Susan K. says
Laura, I am so, so sorry that you are having to go through this. It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that Eric had his accident. At least you didn’t injure your sewing appendages (hands. wrists, arms), but I doubt you’ll feel much like sewing for awhile. Praying for a complete recovery for you as I know you are a very busy woman! Lots of hugs!
Lindsay Dianne says
Oh goodness, Laura! Purple is a beautiful color but not on that sort of way. Sending lots of happy and healing thoughts your way!
jeanie says
Oh Laura, this is beyond grim. I am so sorry you have had to experience this. I can’t begin to imagine the pain and I hope they were able to give you something for it that didn’t conflict with your other meds. You are right about the miracles. Timing is everything and your son’s timing was beyond perfect. I’m so glad you have the Fashionista at hand and that you are nearing the end of your being “bound.” There are times when I wish I lived next door to you and this is one of them. Sending love and healing wishes.
auntie em says
While purple is a pretty colour, not so great when it is due to bruises and injuries. Hope you heal swiftly and no lasting effects. Reading about the issues with the medical insurance making you wait three days in pain, it makes me so glad I live in Canada.
Take care of yourself and listen to your body. Don’t push yourself to do everything you think you have to do. This is one of those times when you need to slow down. So glad Sweet Boy was there to take care of you. It hasn’t been too long since you were caring for your DH after his accident. Maybe you two should be wrapped in some bubble wrap.
Thinking of you and sending get well wishes! {{{gentle hugs}}}
Barbara Harper says
Oh wow, Laura. I can’t imagine both the pain and the treatment. I’m so glad for evidences of God’s grace to you through this time. I don’t know that I would have such a good spirit about it all in your place–maybe yours is another evidence of His grace. I hope and pray for a good recovery with no complications.
Dixie Lee says
Laura, my dh had a broken jaw, so I know how serious and painful this is. I recommend egg nog. If eggs are on your diet to help you maintain weight and Ensure of course. He ate a lot of tomato soup too.
May your healing be lightening fast.
Trisha says
