Spring Home Tour Lovely Lavender

Hello and welcome to the Storybook Cottage Spring Home Tour Lovely Lavender. This inspiring hop was organized by my wonderful friend Marty of A Stroll Thru Life. If you are coming over from County Road 407  I am so glad that you are here. Cindy always has the best seasonal decor.

Spring Home Tour Lovely Lavender

Kitchen Sneak Peek

The last two months have been so busy as we have been undertaking a kitchen renovation. Every Tuesday a post provides an update on our process. Since it is Tuesday, I can’t resist sharing a sneak peek.

Spring Home Tour Lovely Lavender

Our gigantic hearth was once comprised of orange-toned brink. I am in LOVE with the German Schmear treatment that it received.

The Living Room

The other side of the hearth is located in our living room.

The makeover has made this once dark room beautifully bright!

The mantel

Ready for more change we said goodbye to the bar cart. To fill the space until we find something new the tiger maple chest was brought in from the bedroom.

An antique Prince of Wales mirror pairs nicely with it.

Let’s head over to the formal dining area.

Various shades of lavender have been brought in to celebrate spring.

It’s a favorite for both Mr. Decor and me as it was our wedding color.

Pastel eggs are scattered across the table.

Tulips, ornamental cabbage, and freesia make a lovely centerpiece.

A spring-inspired banner decorates the china cabinet.

Mrs. Duck was found at At Home. I gave her a wee Pantone color of the year makeover.

I hope you have enjoyed this year’s spring home tour.

The brick makeover is like 1000% improvement…yes I meant 1000! How bright and pretty everything looks. How did you manage this in the middle of renos? You are like some sort of decorating conjurer! Presto and it all disappeared! Its magic. lol
Your spring lavender touches look so fresh and airy. Winter is gone at the Cottage now. Thank you for the beautiful tour! 🙂

Laura…what a beautiful look you have with the German Schmear on your brick. Not only light and airy…but a good classic look. I bet you are asking yourself what took you so long to “change” the original orange/red brick. I know I will live with something I don’t like thinking I can’t make a change until budget, etc dictates a complete change. That was the case in my master bath that had a brown and tan travertine (tub surround) that I would sort of cringe at each time I looked at it. I kept thinking I would change it all one day when I would do a complete bath remodel. Then one day I had paint brush in hand that I had used to paint the bathroom wall and I slapped a coat of white paint on the tiled tub surround and “Ta Da….” I had a completely different look that I loved. BTW, I still l have not gotten to that complete bath remodel, but I CAN LIVE WITH THE TUB SURROUND NOW. LOL
Your Spring decor is beautiful and I adore your purple tulip flower arrangement. Looking forward to seeing your completed kitchen!!!

I LOVE ~LOVE ~LOVE how the brick came out…GORGEOUS!!! Lucky you to have that already. BIG improvement!!! Slow and steady will win the race!!!
I know you will find it all worth it and be so happy in the end. So far A++++
May I ask what color paint did you use in the living room? Is it the same in the dining? I painted my living and dining areas there same tan tone, which looks great in person but always looks yellowish in pictures. ugh!!!! i still have the hall ways and 2 bedrooms to do and I am questioning myself to go a bit darker.

The light and white bricks make such a difference! All three rooms are looking so lovely. Lavendar and green go so well together and you are adding just enough.

Can’t wait for the whole kitchen revral!

But I miss the painting of birches over the mantel just a little….

Lavender/purple is my favorite color, too. Everything looks fantastic! Where did you get the lavender “rope” that you tied around Mrs. Duck’s neck?

This is my first time to your site so the remodel is new to me and I have to chime in and say I also love the German shmear!!! I’m sure you’ll do a before and after post…I’d be curious to see the orang-ey brick. I bet the kitchen looked so different! I also love the stacked wood in the made-over fireplace. So happy to be on this hop and have discovered you. You may live in my neck of the woods? I live in a suburb of DFW in Tarrant County.

Lovely lavender, Laura!!! We had lavender and purple along with light pink and darker pink in our wedding. They are still some of my favorite colors to decorate around the home. <3 I love how your kitchen and living room fireplace have turned out!!! What a difference and I know every time you walk into your home and see their bright white, it must just really lift your spirit. Bravo!

Thank you for a lovely tour and lavender is just a beautiful hue. Mrs. Duck is quite pretty in her bow and blossoms!
    Happy spring hugs,
    Barb 🙂
