Ahoy sweet friends! Last fall I had the wonderful opportunity to take a fascinating voyage. There were so many wonderful Casual Fashions on the Queen Mary II worn during the day.
In the first post of this series I shared the gorgeous interiors of the RMS Queen Mary 2. The QM2 is a British transatlantic ocean liner. She is the flagship of the Cunard Line. The ship regularly sails between Southampton, England, and New York City.
I traveled with a group of people on this special cruise arranged by Ahoy Vintage Cruises. This particular transatlantic crossing featured bandleader Dandy Wellington and his band. The voyage was an immersive vintage travel experience for people who have a love for the fashions and music of the 1920s through early 1960s.
Let’s Take A Stroll
Right as I boarded the ship I encountered tante_yvonne and polyestherke. These two ladies wore some of my favorite fashions of the trip. Look at the ship purse!
Eager to explore I decided to take a stroll from the top deck down.
When I spied the kennels I couldn’t help but think of my sweet Gracie and Pony.
The ship, built in 2003, has fabulous Art Deco inspired lines.
With each deck that I walked the sea grew more stormy.
I was the only fool outside but at least I was dressed for it in my Barbour waxed jacket and nautically themed head scarf.
SUN
The next day the sun shone brightly.
Casual Fashions on the Queen Mary II
The Ahoy group strolled everyday promptly at 11 am much to the delight of the other passengers aboard the ship.
Plenty of fashionable “wet sets” were in place as a grand Black and White ball was planned for the evening.
Joan and Melanie are absolutely adorable!
My friend Alexia (in the stylish green jacket) is a famed novelist. Her recent book, Murder in G Major, will premiere as a movie on Hallmark next month!
The talented Marilee knitted this amazing fisherman’s sweater in the prettiest heathered green yarn.
Giving off old Hollywood smolder is the ever dapper Carey.
Julia was always artfully attired with the very best of accessories.
A truly gorgeous group!
The most Dapper of Dans was of course Dandy Wellington. He is always beautifully attired. You can learn more about his style influences HERE.
I hope you have enjoyed this look at some incredible vintage/retro inspired daytime fashion.
Coming up next in the series, in two weeks, will be some truly amazing evening looks.
Several of you have asked about what I wore. In three weeks I will be sharing the late teens through early 30’s capsule wardrobe I created in just one month.
Today’s Video
I hope you will enjoy today’s video full of inspiring song, dance and swagger.

I will be taking this next week off as the Mister and I are headed to Niagara Falls to celebrate my birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary. The Fashionista and Sweet Guy are staying home with the doxies.
When I disembarked the ship last fall I wondered if I would ever see any of my friends again…
On Tuesday a group of 8 of us are meeting for dinner in Niagara on the Lake Canada.
Birthday wishes do come true.

How fun that you will be seeing your friends in Niagara on the Lake. I was very close to being there that week you will be to go see “Gypsy” at the Shaw Festival (but plans changed). It’s such a darling town with so many fun shops. And of course, wineries nearby and beautiful countryside. It will be yet another birthday celebration as well as a reunion.
Happy Early Birthday and Anniversary to you both. Have a wonderful time — and do report back and blog on Niagara! Such lovely territory and now I’m not sure I’ll get there this fall so I can see it through your eyes!
