Hi friends, Happy Fashion Friday! I have some fun content for you. Earlier this week the Fashionista and I donned some pink gingham mother/daughter dresses to visit Barbie’s Dreamhouse and Pink Carpet Party.
A Technicolor Dreamworld
Our local movie theater sent out an invitation to attend this fabulous event to celebrate the new Barbie movie.
I can’t wait to see the film! All of the various dream houses were inspired by the midcentury modern architecture in Palm Springs.
Were you were looking for pink paint last year? The film sets used up most of the supply during the shortage.
I’d like a fringed cabana myself.
A most epic water slide.
Who wouldn’t want Barbie’s closet? I guess I’ll make my own dress.
Barbie’s Pink Gingham Dress
I began with a pattern by Vogue, V1884.
I added sleeves and plenty of eyelet lace. The back zipper was moved to the left side. The skirt made of simple rectangles. I then made a matching fabric belt. The buckle was accented with half pearls also known as flat back pearls.
Channeling my inner Midge I made a bow for my hair.
Hi Skipper!
The Fashionista opted for a vintage look. Simplicity pattern 7090 fit the bill.
We opted to not add the pockets but used plenty of eyelet. It’s a great pattern for a beginner.
It’s a perfect dress for the hot weather temperatures we’ve been experiencing.
Skipper needed an even bigger hairbow!
Barbie’s Dreamhouse and Pink Carpet Party
We were ready to walk the pink carpet.
A huge balloon arch helped to set the mood.
You know what to do!
All of the employees were decked out in Barbie and Ken fabulousness!
There were so many fun sets and props!
Seaside Skipper.
Beach blanket Barbie!
We met up with my gorgeous friend April and her darling daughter Ava. They were Groovy 70s Barbies. Can ya dig?
April knows how to strike a Barbie pose!
Think PINK!
We had a GREAT time!
I loved the party favors. They included a little pink disco ball and gold winged Barbie shoes.

Midge! I thought “Skipper!” Immediately. You’re so talented and were due for some great fun! Cheers!

Lauren, it’s been a long time since I’ve popped in – somehow I lost my feed of yours – and to be honest I am trying so hard to read more books and look at screens less. My old eyes need a break for back lighting, I’m afraid. But I absolutely must say that you have to be one of the most fun and amazing people ever. You are just adorable and your costumes and sense of adventure and fun are AWESOME. I sure wish we were “real life” friends. You’d be sure to get me out of the house and smile more, I just know it.
My two daughters and I can’t WAIT for the Barbie Movie. We were hoping to take my 7 year old grand daughter too but Im afraid the PG-13ness of the film will keep it just a ladies night out. I hadn’t thought of dressing up for it but now I want to! Your outfits were perfect for it (and yours perfect for a tea party! Host a Barbie Tea Party!!)
Anyway, it is good to see your blog again. Next rainy day I will have to back read, I know I have missed a ton of fun posts. Hugs ♥♥♥

I’m still debating on the Barbie movie. I’m not sure I can handle so much pink — although I really love your gingham dress! (Although we almost made it an Oppenheimer and Barbie double feature yesterday for my birthday but then decided after seeing the future of our universe if things don’t shape up, I needed to come home and get grounded again!
